the stock BOV isnt very loud...ull hear a small amout of air purging from it and thats about it...if ur running it with the SMIC and all the stock engine air bits (box, piping etc etc) you need to remember that nissan made it a sports car yes...but they made it with the AVERAGE PERSON in mind...that if the average person heard the noise of the BOV as loud as say fast and the furious cars they would freak cause they would think something is wrong so mind you the stock setup is NOT very loud at all...now if u go with a FMIC kit and have a metal hot pipe built and mount the stock BOV to that (i have a DSM bov on mine but its the same BOV mitsu supplies nissans BOVs ne ways at least they use to) it will get alot louder as you dont have all the sound deadening materials being used...or you can always go with an aftermarket BOV

if your BOV was NOT functioning your turbo would prolly explode from all the blow by that would be created

Again, not true that your turbo will explode or go bad because bov is not working. Some turbocharged cars dont' come stock from factory with bypass valve. I'm sure you were just exaggerating, but just letting the guys know that a bov is not a must if you don't have funds for it now. Just take it easy on the boost.

??? I am currently running no BOV (waiting on HKS) and while I don't plan on running like that forever, it will not make my turbo explode. I asked around because I was hesitant driving it at first but many members on here have ran their SR's for months like that with no adverse effects. Prolonged periods of compressor surge can eventually damage your turbo if you are running higher than stock boost and driving it hard. There are cars that don't come equipped with any type of recirculating valve from the factory. They aren't ball bearing turbo either.
