Running rich and idle sucks.Help!!

Ok, ive been trying to get my 95 240sx w/s14 sr20det to run for about 6 months now:mad: !Anyways, I have finally got my car to fire on all cylinders but i am running rich. black smoke spits from my exhaust as well as huge flames:D . Well I have upgraded my fuel pump and was wondering if my stock FPR was too weak and pumping too much gas to the injectors, I am about to get an adjustable one to see if that works.

And about my rough idle im almost positive its my MAF(drove without a filter, Dumb I know) because I can't rev past 5000 rpms without it stuttering.

Any additional information and opinions would be greatly apperciated so I can try to hurry to get this dang thing on the road

clean the maf sensor with some carb or brake cleaner. Do not spray directly upon the unit itself though, as they are highly pressurized. See if that fixes your problem.

Yeah ive already tried that. and ive also taken apart iac and all its components and cleaned them as well. I tried using my friends MAF today and it reved all the way up with no problems but the idle was still crap?

if the fpr was weak then u would have less fuel pressure not too much. seems like either ur maf is screwed or one of ur intercooler pipes/couplings has a bad leak or blew off. guess u already checked the plugs right

yeah, but it wouldent hurt to change the plugs they are the same ones that came with the clip. The FPR would send less fuel if it was bad? even if the pump pumps too much pressure into the fuel lines.

double check your timing. mine was off and i was running rich and misfiring. when you go WOT, do you hear any kind of rattle? i mistook that for an exhaust rattle when in fact it was detonation

I havnt checked my timing yet, I took it to Cartune where i got my clip from, and had them finish my wiring. They said they fixed the timing but i havnt double checked yet. And at WOT I dont hear any sort of detonation.
