Can 05 tails and trunk fit a 02?

Can 05 tails and trunk fit a 02? I dont like the trunk with the lights on them but I realize the 05 reverse lights are located on the trunk.

I would imagine that the connections are different for the '05, but not so different that you can't make it work.

From the photos I've seen, it looks like the '05 trunk sections are red, not clear. The reverse lights still appear to be on the "main" tail lights.

The 05/06 back up lamps are in the same location as on the 02/04.Those things on the deck lid are just reflectors.

You would need the updated rear bumper to install the newer tail lamps and disturb the lower rear structure of the older F50. I don't know if its as simple as swapping this and that out but yes it can be done.

ok with that being said, its still cheaper to buy tail lights and a bumper then to buy the tails and the trunk lid. Besides I perfer my 02 trunk (aside from the massive camera) to the newer ones. Thanks, I will look into this in the near future hopefully before summer gets here.

ok I looked at the lights on a 02 and a 05 today, I dont see why I would need a new bumper becasue the lights dont sit directly on the bumper

nope they are totally different tails and are cut different for both versions. The tailights on the 2005 Q have led's on the main taillights and the lights on the trunk are led lights as well (not deflectors). IMO it would cost more to have a new trunk, bumper, etc and would be less costly to just buy a newer Q (if you get a good resale value on your car). The 2005 rear end is just completely different... bumper cut different, tailights style different, etc.

The 05-06 tail lights slope downward toward the decklid. The ones on the 02-04 are horizontal.

If you use the 02-04 rear bumper you'll have to cut it. The 05-06 bumper also has a different contour from the tail lamps to the bumper edge.

The 05-06 Q45 is slightly longer than the earlier F50's as well, but I don't know if it's all in the rear bumper though.

An option is you could harvest the lenses from the trunk of a 98-05 Lexus GS 300/400/430 and use those for a different look.

If you want to update the look of the F50, it would probably be easier to install the 2005 front end than the rear.

Ok I see now. The 02 bumper does not directly make contact with the tails so it would be some work. I wouldnt trade my car in, I love the color combo plus I wouldnt get much for it, I put 100 miles on it everyweek day when I go to work so the miles are up there.

I was sure that the area directly beneath the tail lamps on the 02-04 F50 is an integral part of the bumper cover.

The limited space between the license plate tray and tail lamps is not enough to add those extra Lex-GS lenses (I musta been thinking about my old Altima), without filling the tray area sides to the plate.

The lights on the trunk are led lights as well (not deflectors).

Oops! My bad. Of all the 05-06 Q45's that I've seen in person in a three state area (roughly nine 05's, two 06's), all were at dealerships. So I have yet to be behind a 05-06 Q45 with its lights on. Looking at the so called "Avalon-wings" I just thought they were reflectors. It's good to know that they are LED's.
