Spring installation

I was wondering if anyone in the SoCal area is willing to install my springs for me (when I get them) for under $40 bucks...I have absolutely NO experience with suspension and it would be cool if someone taught me some stuff. Thanks in advance!

i did mine without a spring compressor might have been a lil bit of a risk but who really needs a head. i would def help u out if i wasnt on the other side of the country

yea its not to safe but you can always just get a bucket and line it up and when you loosen the nut on the top of the strut it'll just shoot out into the bucket, most likely breaking the bucket. so dont use a really nice one, and you probably shouldn't do it that way. the best option is to take your whole strut asembly out and take it to a local shop. they usually have a machine that'll do it in 30 sec. then jsut slip the mechanic 5 or 10$ and you'll be on your way. good luck

at my local kragen they rent spring compressors for like $5 a day.

i think one of the mods of the infiniti mechanic forum does some mechanic work for people, screen name is DAEDALUS and he's in El Segundo. email him and ask if he'll help you. he's got a hydraulic spring compressor, and just about everything else you can think of.

A friend of mine used to use the "2 jack" method. Jack the car up and put it on stands..(hydrolic jack) then he would use the jack to put the shock assembly under light load, then loosen the top bolt. It always seemed like a good way to get injured to me.. I'll be taking my car to a shop.

My friend was gonna do it for me for $20, but he got called to duty to Iraq....bummer....

careful when you take off the nut on the rear shocks. We didn't use a spring compressor, but we let it shoot out and the shock "exploded" err burst open to be more correct. Soo be especially careful if u r using stock shocks and use the spring compressor. good thing for me, i had the full coilover, so only stock part i needed to use was the upper mount (no pillowball mounts).
