Does any one know, or has any one heard of Infiniti producing a G35 coupe convertible?

Ive seen pics of the 350Z vert,so id assume that the G35 would follow in the same direction.I dont care much for verts,Im more of a Targa or T-Top kind of guy!;)

Hope that it is a ground-up-design and not simply a chop-top. A chop-top would loose all of the handling as the frame would probably flex and sway under hard corners. You can see it in the design of the hardtop that the roof provides support and ridgitiy to the frame. It has that "egg" effect. That said, if they do produce a ground up-designed convertible I would be very interested. It would look great!

Jason B nice chop top. That is some fine art work. I have heard that the convertable G35 coupe will be out by the end of this year. Look at the success that Lexus has with the SC430. Andthe G would be even better, cheaper and faster.

I love it. If that is what it ends up looking like then that IS my car.

I actually talked to Infiniti and they said it is just a wisper, that they want to see how well the 350Z convert sells.

I wonder if Infiniti could/would make a retractable top like the Lexus SC430 or the Mercedes SLK Class.

It'd look so hot in this car...

In the quantities sold, they maybe could for $50,000+. A removable hardtop is probably more in the economic and engineering realm. The cars to which you refer were designed originally with the retractable top. The Lexus SC 430 results in small rear seats and an ungainly long trunk, and boulevardier performance.

All very true... Blame my looks before muscle philosophy, I would be the one buying the retractable/removable/convertible one before the coupe. Except an Audi TT, that car is made to be a coupe, not a convertible...

I talked to a dealer this past weekend, and he said Infiniti would not produce a convertible G35 because of performance issues.

I hope he is wrong.

Yeah but the dealers know nothing. I was told that the G35 sedan with a 6 speed would not be out until June or July due to the G35 Coupe and the demand for the 6 speed there. Not enough 6 speed transmissions to go around. Well guess what I bought in early February, a 6 speed G35 sedan. The dealers truly don't have a clue.

Dealers want to sell you what's on the lot right now. They will never encourage a purchase 6-12 months in the future!

I think a convertible G35 coupe would steal some sales from a 350Z convertible, so if Nissan is smart they'll annouce plans for a G35 coupe convertible AFTER the 350Z convertible has hit the market.

I'm sure both will be conversion job anyways, not a factory job.
