Yeah man. He has to get out some time. The light probably turns green automatically when it senses someone waiting anyway.NY94J30 wrote:"Heroes" - and I'd assume the light operates on a motion sensor
Um... So, you think that theyt live at the station? That is completely, utterly, wholey Untrue. Guess what, almost every single day, I see a fire truck, with full crew, parked at a near by grocery store. And no they didn't just park the truck there. They are inside shopping for food! And just wait, it gets even better, they are on the "clock" when they're at the grocery store! OMFG, getting paid to shop. And did you know that firemen are paid to sleep? On an average shift, which is 24hours on, 24hours off, a fireman will sleep about 8~10 hours/1. What a life. Getting paid to sleep!240kid wrote:meh... he does have to be able to get out of the station, i mean they cant leave to pick it up on their own when they are on call, they pretty much live there.
I know this may upset most people, but please tell me what the firemen did on 9/11/01 that makes them heros? I know that they were "willing" to risk their own lives to try to save others, but that's their job.240kid wrote:and yes, i do call them Heros
Yeah I know that they "have to eat" too. But have you ever noticed that the manjprity of firemen are over weight? Now, I know that there are those firemen who are not over weight, I know a few of them, but it seems that the majority is over weight.240kid wrote:i didnt mean that the live there like its there house, but in the fact that they are there for like 24 hours as you said, like all people, they have to eat too.
If this is tongue in cheek humor, it's lame.PoorManQ45 wrote:Yeah I know that they "have to eat" too. But have you ever noticed that the manjprity of firemen are over weight? Tell me, if they are working so hard, how come they are over weight? Could it possibly be that they are eating more then they are working?
Not humor, I'm being serious.skydragoness5 wrote:If this is tongue in cheek humor, it's lame.
Hmmm. it would seem that you contracicted yourself in your own post.skydragoness5 wrote:When you have to work a 24hr shift, there isn't much time to hit the gym or eat right. Although not all firemen i see are overweight. Way to generalize
that would. then the pizza man could hang out at the station untill the next emergency.PoorManQ45 wrote:
About the sensor: it would make more sense to have the sensor tied directly into the alarm that goes off when they get a call. Wouldn't that make sense?
No, then the pizza man could hang out there until the light that is a block away turned red.s13sr20chris wrote:that would. then the pizza man could hang out at the station untill the next emergency.
Yes, hanging from the light it says, "Emergency Signal." And before it was installed, it was brought up at a "commerce" meeting. It was specifically labeled as, "For emergency use only."s13sr20chris wrote:lighten up. are you on an antifireman crusade? was there even a sign designating the "emergency only" stop light?
To my knowledge, a fireman works long shifts. Example, a fireman will live at the station for 2 weeks and will be on call 24/7. But, the next 2 weeks he has off, and doesn't have to work. It may be different in certain areas, but thats how I thought it works since my friend is becoming a fireman and thats what he told me.PoorManQ45 wrote:Um... You know what I'm going to do about it? I'm going to become a fireman. Then I can gain an extra 50~100Lbs, because I'm working so damn hard . Have you ever wondered why most firemen are over weight?
Just so you know, my uncle is a fireman.

I will call a single fireman a hero when I see them do something truely heroic, but to make broad sweeping generalizations that all firemen are heros is just plain insane
Damn Greg! LOL. Strong work.AZhitman wrote:p.s. It's spelled HEROES.
A hero ain't nothing but a sandwich. Ahhhh...nevermind. I've got nothing of value to add to this thread. In fact, my attention span is so short I couldn't even read the whole thing!AZhitman wrote:p.s. It's spelled HEROES.
You are extremely ungrateful. Part of their job description is to put their safety and LIFE in danger to save YOURS. Even when they're off duty they're usually still on call. Their life is dedicated to saving other's 24/7/365. I hope for your sake you never need their services. Their job is one of the most selfless occupations on the planet.PoorManQ45 wrote:Um...
