In preparation for a tune, I decided to have a little work done to the effed up oem y-pipe.
There wasn't a shop around that would do a cat delete on the secondary cats, so I decided to have a reputable shop close by just cut after the cats and do the pipes from there and I can gut the cats later.
We went with 2.25" pieces joined to a 2.5" section. The tech said that the cats were not ceramic and the material inside would be very difficult to remove... I'll take a look later and determine if I want to attempt it. (Just had surgery on my hand last week)
Anyway, when leaving the exhaust shop, it felt like the ecu was confused as I could feel some stumble.
After driving for about 5 miles, everything felt smooth again.

Then I got onto the freeway felt no difference... until it hit about 4,500 rpm.
That's when I felt that it was worth spending the money for some pipe work. Less than $200 total for miles of smiles.
I was in such a hurry to get on the road, I forgot to take pictures. At a quick glance, the pipes had smooth bends and clean welds. I'll upload some pictures as soon as I can get the car up on a lift again.

I got a custom y-pipe done to my M45 with 2.5" piping ending in almost 3". It was welded to the cats.

and I"m happy to say I have power thru the whole ban.

The more I drive it, the more I like it. Everything seems smoother. I didn't go any larger in pipe diameter because I don't have plans on changing anything else out.
If I go too large on the front end, the rest of the exhaust becomes bottle necked again.
The fuel mileage was a little better this morning during my commute, but I'll have to keep an eye on it for long term difference.

Im thinking of doing some exhaust work myself. I dont want to get anything aftermarket just enlarge the pipes. If you could, snap some pics of the underside and a sound clip would be great too! I dont want it to sound loud. I just want a clean and very low tone. Close to stock but of course more power with less restrictions.
