I just picked up a twin turbo engine so I decided it is time to start my build thread. Your probably thinking you didnt build anything yet if you just got a twin turbo engine. Sit back relax. This is my project car a 1990 300zx 2+2 na.
Image
^This is the picture from the ad I seen when I went to look at it. Image
^The day I brought it home new years day 1/1/2009
This is where the fun began the car had 120,000 miles on her brand new tires and just inspected, the kid I bought it from wrecked it a month before I picked it up. Ran smooth just some ...... well there was front end damage. Image
This is where I decided to cut the support and replace it with a nose cut I picked up from a local import yard.
Image
During this time while the support was out of the way I figured it would be good to do the 120k maintenance, this guy I knew that worked at a nissan dealship said he could do it. Thats where this went wrong. The belt slipped and all the valves were bent, needless to say "NO ONE" touches this car but me from now on. I found some freshly rebuilt heads from a tt for a good price never installed, sent them out to get milled and ordered new head bolts and other little hoses and other things you know how it gets when your buying parts. haha
Image
Image
New heads installed, I believe I was testing my new color scheme. Forgive me it was a few years ago now.
Image
Test fitting there was tons of that. Notice the rocker that is missing in the corner of the picture. :tisk:
Image
This is probably a year into this project and I lost my job. But the front end is almost completely fixed and the engine runs smoothly. Engine bay was painted black as well.
By this point I have come to far to not finish this project so I replaced the rocker panel because the t-top drain came off the little nipple in the rocker and for how ever long it was off, water kept sitting in the rocker rusting it out. Found some one parting out a car that was willing to cut the rocker off for me.
The interior was not in good shape 3000gt seats were put in there for who knows what reason and the rear seat is useless. So 2+0 interior? Why not?
Image
Sorry for the small picture. This is still in the works I am going to have it recovered when I do my stock 300zx seats.
I did the body work getting all the little dings out and filling the spoiler holes shaving the rear wiper, rock guard and antenna. Then primered it. Image
Image
Hoods open ^
New wheels, kyb adjustables with tein springs, powertrix front arms, used rear arms forget the brand.

stillen III sides and turbo III lip

Deciding on a color now and gathering some tt parts for my build.

This is an awesome display of ingenuity, persistence, and B/S/T. Great Build thus far sir. clean product came out of all that work, and the front looks like it lines up well! Any fitment issues we can't see?

Only one of the fender holes dont line up perfectly on the pass. side. other then that it is exactly the way it was before. It was my dream car forever, I found this really cheap so why not? The weather up here is pretty cold so working on it is getting tough but spring will be right around the corner.

I was making a list for my build and would like some opinions/comments
wisco 87mm
stock rods (?)
bottom end bearings
new main and head bolts (What can stock hold up to?)
gt2860rs turbos
740cc injectors
oem gasket kit
new na wiring harness
aluminum radiator (looking around for a good deal)
z1 chip (already have a na z1 ecu)
tt fuel pump
tt fly wheel and clutch (not sure what brand yet)
intercoolers (debating z1)
120k maintenance

The engine I picked up has the new style lower intake and 48p heads, I was told it is a 94?
I already have
z1 2.5 downpipes
stock intercooler piping
all silicone engine hoses
electric fan setup

I am looking to be close to 450-500hp

I am guessing the block is in good shape since your getting 87mm pistons??

Don't get stock head bolts. Get ARP L19.
Get a TT koyo radiator.
Get new style nismo 740cc injectors.

Not sure about the wiring harness since its a swap?

I wouldn't get an electric fan but that is just my preference.

I already have an electric fan setup on the car. The na wiring harness is the way to go since I have a na fuel pump controller, plus my na ecu is already chipped just needs a tt chip $50 from z1. thanks for the input

along with the 740cc Nismo's, get the 300 degree fuel rail while you're at it. My guess is that you'll want m0ar boost after 500hp anyway. Oh, and make sure you're tending to the suspension and braking just as well. 350z track rotors (or vr4's) braided brake lines, a good coilover setup, F&R strut bars, fender brace. These are all worthwhile investments.

rear strut bar
powertrix fuca's
powertrix ruca's
Stillen catback exhaust with x pipe
egr delete
aiv delete
pop charger -probably going to a dual intake setup (selin)
.......
Im sure there is more just cant remember, thanks for the input

So I have been collecting parts for my build, pictures will come soon.
As of right now I have a good na block with oil squirters and crank. Off the twin turbo engine I picked up I have 48p head with matching lower intake and hardware around the engine. rzt exhaust manifolds, solid motor mounts (z1), stillen intercoolers with ducts, cp pistons 87mm, z1 split down pipes 2.5, stock intercooler piping complete set. I also just bought some z1 throttle bodies. Anyone put these throttle bodies on their na? Might do that in the mean time while Im building my engine. Looking for some opinions on bearings for the lower end?

The JWT sport 500's seem a good fit with what you describe for your turbo needs, and a set of low-mileage turbos are listed in the NICO classifieds...BigTDogg runs them among others, and unless you want gobs of HP they have gotten good feedback for the 400-450 HP range, with great torque as well.
