The wear on my steering wheel is getting to me. Wheelskins sent samples of the closest colors but neither match very well. Short of a better solution I'll probably go with the Oak (darker color).

Wow, I thought I was the only one with a worn steering wheel (or maybe I didn't search). Mine has more wear on it than the OP's.

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but have you tried checking the wrecking/junk yards?
e.g. My local yard is only 10 minutes away, and it's not very big, but they probably have close to 10 Pathfinders of varying vintages. Some have been there for a while, and are pretty badly picked over, but some are still in pretty good shape.
I'm guessing most decent size yards in your area will have a few pathfinders.

I went with the 2-tone - since it was going to look aftermarket it might as well look like an upgrade. It's really nice leather, it feels great and the extra thickness is an improvement. The color match seems better than shown in the picture, probably because of the flash. $50 delivered from QualitySmart.com.

The more the steering wheel wears the more worn it looks but still feels all right. I took some seat/leather softener to the steering wheel and:
1- it made it more supple
2- Made it more homogenous
3- Still it's almost 15 years old but it is passable

Even the seats are beginning to wear, the wood grain on the doors is worn, the outside paint has a few bubbles, the bumpers are marked, the tires are worn. The steering wheel is the same age as the car. The whole thing is about 15 years old, another 5 years I'll think about getting rid of it or let Infiniti buy it for its rust value

If it looked as good as it is mechanically, about 1997, I'd be ahead but with 250,000 km on it it's normal looking to good looking, but its looks are meaningless to the way it drives. All things work and work as it should. It's amazing how PM helps keep a car working.

The top of the steering wheel was the only part of the interior so far that has begun to look shabby. My interior is in great shape @ 140k miles. :)

My wheelskins have 30,000 miles on them and they've just begun to look shabby - the leather paint has worn through and the under color is showing.

If anyone is interested this link has great looking wraps they do. A bit pricey though. http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/sw1.htm

Here's an quote I got form them a while back.

The cost to recover your 2001 Nissan Pathfinder steering wheel to your specification is
- Wheel $349 (leather and Alcantara) The same cost for all Alcantara. Or $319 (premium solid black leather).
- Extra 1/16" padding $30 (if prefer slightly thicker than stock for comfort feel).
- Colored/Style stitching (no extra charge).
- Shipping $18.
Turn around time about 4-5 days.
