Looking for a hitch to tow a tire trailer. I have the Stillen exhaust and EVERY hitch I've seen would require me to change my exhaust to where the mufflers are on each side instead of going across.I found this hitch that Chris Hammond had, but I can't figure out who made it.Any help would be appreciated.

What would you tow with a 350z?

Looks like it was custom by this guy back in 2005 who posted on another forum.

I did come across a similar while searching the internet, but there was some minor trimming of the bumper required

I know some guys who have hitches on their Camaro/Firebird/Mustangs for this same reason, but they typically just have a cargo carrier with the tires strapped to that. I have a hitch on my Firebird but I actually pull a motorcycle with mine. Slightly different though, as my car they make a real hitch for that can tow 2,000 pounds. I know of no such option for a Z car.

I'd be towing a tire trailer with 2 sets of tires, canopy, tool box, jack and various other needed items for auto-x and track days. There is NO space in the Z to carry 4 tires and all the needed tools. Towing is the only other viable way to get my stuff there. I don't have the money for a truck and trailer to tow the car with. Thanks for the info guys.

Dasoupdude...here is the one I found. It puts the receiver facing down like the one shown by the OP, but is slightly different as it requires cutting a small notch in the bumper to clear the receiver tube.

Need a hitch for my 370Z to tow loads of mulch a few times a year (20 miles, no hills), and to take the lawn tractor in for service once or twice a year (10 miles, no hills)!

Not worth keeping my Hemi Magnum just to tow with!

I wouldn't recommend towing those things with this car. Buy a little beater S10 for the price of the hitch and trailer ($1000) and you got what you need plus save embarrassment and stress on the car. If i saw that driving down the road hulling mulch.... i probably shouldn't keep typing, sorry

No flames please!

I have had a couple of generation Zs in my life and I am thinking of getting a 370 BUT I have to be able to tow something with it. I have a really sweet custom retro teardrop with air suspension that also hauls my Harley. I am seeing these hitches here that say Class I and my trailer is within Class I (under 2000lbs.) but these show only 150lb. tongue weight and mine is closer to 250 -300lb with a motorcycle in it and a total of about 1800lbs loaded.

Would I destroy a Z if I towed this periodically? It would be to go on a road trip two or three times a year sometimes with the Harley sometimes without.

I live on my boat so I only have one parking space so getting a beater truck is no fun plus insurance on another vehicle sucks for something I only use a few times a year.

Constructive comments are very appreciated, flames.... well you know where you can go. :)

Would love to get back into the Z family again I miss it!

I don't know anyone that tows much with their Z. I know a couple of autocross & drifter types that tow a small trailer with tires, but nothing as big as a Harley.

I'd say check with Nissan. The engine can most certainly handle it, the VQ has been used in just about everything Nissan builds with the exception of some smaller models. It's in the FX & Xterra and I know I'd personally pull about anything with my X.

The larger concern may be the weight it places on the car and not the extra load that the engine has to move. Every owner's manual I have ever seen has a towing section, if I can find one for the 370 I'll post up what I find.

Or maybe 370Z/28 can look in her manual and let us know. :)

Welcome to NICO! :badger

I'd be worried about the clutch/torque converter, personally.

Found an OM on the Nissan site. On page 9-19 of the 2010 370Z manual it just says:

Do not tow a trailer with your vehicle

Just like that, in bold even.

I can tow 1500 lbs with my 2+2! :D

0 lbs with the TT. Not like I'll ever tow anything anyways.
