Hey guys,
So I just picked up a 2009 G37x.
I am trying to decide what to begin with, I don't have much money after the purchase of course.
Kind of thinking Hotchkis sway bars.

If you could pick first mods, start with about $300.
What would you choose this time if you started again?

What is the main purpose for the mods you want to do? Looks, handling, performance?

Sway bars are a good mod that will provide a noticeable improvement immediately.

Handling and performance are the key for me, without going crazy.
I am coming from a Spec-V so the ride is way smoother, but handling feels a bit squishy and lacking turn in. I don't need that firm of a ride, I just like toss-ability.

I may consider wheels/tires later on, if the budget allows.

Also wondering what peoples power mod choices would be.
For example, is the aFe drop in worth it, possibly with the mishimoto replacement hose?
Or is it worth waiting and trying to save to go up to the stillen gen3 longtube intake?

I have done some research, so I'm not just asking what to do, lol.
I know that with previous cars I've had, I would maybe have gone back and chosen different options or order of adding.

Hard to say for sure, but an air filter/intake could be a fairly practical choice. Technically it should eventually save you money, although I don't know if you'll really notice much of a difference. I didn't really notice mine.

For an X you can find someone selling a used one from a Sport-based G and swap that in without paying too much. Otherwise upgrading the rear to Hotchkiss would a good solution.

I can't justify the "cost savings" side to the wife right now. I have 3 years of free maintenance provided. Dang.. lol

It is sounding like I may have to consider my possible upcoming competition.
While I've had my Spec-V, my brother-in-law has been running a tweaked Impreza. Very even match.
Now that I've switched up to the G37x, he is considering an Audi S4. Looks like it will be game on again. haha

+1

This is an inexpensive upgrade thats easy to do, but the gains are low. You gotta pay to play ;)
