Just got my car last week. I was filling the windshield washer fluid and decided to unscrew the cap for the coolant reservoir and that cap broke in my hand.

I used a glue gun for a temp fix but need the right part. I will try an auto parts store as soon as I can get to one but hoped to get one online and am just finding for up to a 2001.

It's a stupid simple yellow cap only markings are COOLANT and inside the cap 6

Thanks

Dan

Mine did the same thing...The top split away from the threaded sides.

I used RTV to glue the two pieces back together inside a larger plastic bottle cap. The bottle cap provides mechanical reinforcement, so I'm not just relying on the strength of the glue to hold the pieces together.

That was 4-5 years ago. It's held up just fine ever since.

As a bonus, the bottle cap's larger size makes it harder to lose.

Very smart.
Mine is glued together, this weekend I will find a larger cap to glue it into.

Wasn't a good day couldn't find glue gun just glue sticks and was in a hurry so I melted the glue stick with a lighter.

Thanks for the great idea!

Just got it a week ago 2002 Q45 Premium/Sport and so far:
rear brakes
new belts
new air filter
oil change

Confirmed needed
inner and outer tie rods
alignment
at least 1 tire

Maybe needed
New plugs

Inner and outer tie rods? Who looked at them? I can count on one hand the number of cars that needed inner and outer tie rods on both sides.

re: Tie rods - Firestone told me about them, they also gave me a very high qoute on rear brakes. Found a good coupon for Meineke and had brakes done there for $295 rotors and pads $150 less than Firestone.

Meineke showed me car on lift and play in tie rods.
There is also unusual wear on a tire that was on the front. One side of the tire is like a slick.

I am pretty sure unfortunately that I do need the tie rods. Thanks

- Coolant cap - thanks I am going to check it out.

Is that confirmed to fit? Dorman says it doesn't fit the 2002, I chatted with them online.

Not urgent as I did the same trick as posted - hot glue and put it in a larger cap.

Thanks so much,

Dan.

Oops.
What I posted says only to 2001 and you have a 2002. Sorry for the misinformation. Seems I had some failure in reading comprehension.
