Hey guys, been a long while.

My faithful 240 has finally succumbed to the terror of the North East elements. I've a few potential buys who would like the car as a parts car. The vehicle is in good running condition (engine, wheels, brakes, etc) it's just the frame has rusted -- really rusted -- out. I'm sure some enterprising individual could strip the car down and rebuild the frame, but I have not the skills, time, or locale do undertake such a task. So, with all this in mind, can anyone give me a general idea of how much it may be worth being sold as a parts car? ($300, $500? $1,000?)

Thanks for any input.

Have a shop weld heavy angle iron down the length of the rails?

I'd guess 3-700 dollars.

Since it runs and drives, I would say around $1000 especially if the body parts are not rusted (like fenders, hood) and if the interior is not roached.

Fenders have some rust, the worst being the rear passenger fender. All of it is towards the bottom rims of the wheel wells. Hood is in great shape, hatch has been patched and is fine now (spoiler sealed to the deck) and doesn't leak.

As for the interior, the worst is a crack in the dash and the usual wear on the driver's cushion. Otherwise, all there and intact, stock, and in used but good condition. Leather on the steering wheel and shift knob is a bit worn naturally, but not dried, torn, or cracked. And it still has that pouch for the sun roof.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. Much appreciated.

Just as a side note, if anyone is interested in a project vehicle, I'm willing to sell here as well. It's located in Central PA. Car has 190K on it.
But, as I said, you're going to have to rip it all apart to weld up the frame (which I guess anyone crazy enough to do would do anyway because they surely wouldn't keep the KA).

Frame details (for those curious):
Driver's side rail should really be completely rebuilt and is separating in the wheel well.
Driver's side flooring was cheaply repair at some point and is now starting to wear out.
Passenger side is good from the seat back. Going forward, should be replaced, and is also starting to separate in the wheel well.
Both Strut towers are starting to pull away from the chassis near the top seam.
Cross member that holds the engine is rusting and has a hole in the center.
Sub frame has rust starting.

Cat needs new flanges (assuming you use a cat...)

If interest is shown, I'll post some pictures.

My car drives.... paid 775 for it, if I recall right. And it's a southern car with no rust (at least, when I bought it.)

It sounds like a day or 5 of monkeying around and welding would have that car okay, I suppose.

You'll be lucky to find a shell in Seattle for under 1000$. A stock running one is 2500.... I swear they milk the advantage of drifting being popular there.

Reminds me of a post I saw a while back, I think it was on zilvia or somewhere, dunno. But the guy was bragging about how he, super cool 500hp drifter that he is, smashes a transmission, or a few, monthly, and then whining about the oppertunists raising the price on manual KA transmissions.

Law of supply and demand, duh.... if there's a bunch of people who think wrecking cars or smashing transmissions makes them cool (as say, drifters on zilvia tend to), it's only natural that the price on that car or part, as it's being ruined faster than it's becoming available, is going to go up.

Blame people who ruin cars, the "it's going into a wall anyway" crowd. Not because accidents happen, but because reckless kids who think that zipties are hardcore ruin things for everyone.
