This thread is to be the master list for forum users to post problems they see with the new forum software:

Hey gang, looks like the forum changeover has been successful, but of course, with any MAJOR change on a forum, there will be many issues to fix and tinker with to make things the best they can be.

If you find anything that is broken (even down to little things like a bad link), please post them here. Having a the issues in a list format will make it easier for AZHitman and our other web guys to find and fix. Clearly it is our goal to make things as great as possible as quickly as possible, and we'll need your help to do that!

Thanks everyone!

can't post pics. also, because of the layout of the message area/sidebar, previously posted pics are basically cut in half.

We can post pics. They just have to be under 500 pixels.

Working on pics cut in half.

The nesting quotes thing. It yells at you when you try to nest quotes (which is fine, long nested sets of post quotes are annoying as hell), but when you click the quote button, it gives you nested quotes to start. Some less internet savvy people unfamiliar with forum tags may have a lot of trouble with this.

Firenico only worked on zeroforums. As far as I know, it's completely useless now. Might as well uninstall it.

Firenico does not work on the new software.

Watched threads list should be on the user bar on the right side... now titled "view your posts". Note... At the moment it doesn't appear to be working, but it was earlier, and it will again as soon as they get done working on tweaking the search functions.

yeah, that. it's kind of lame to hit quote only to have to go and erase the quote within the quote you want. the edit function is still fuzzy, seems like you can only edit right away or else lose the ability to fix something later.

also, not sure if it was written into the new software, but it would seem that nala is still allowed to post. not sure if in the busy haste to get things going that that was overlooked.

I don't know if Its just me but everything is very bright and hard to differentiate. Like... everything looks the same and its easy to click on the wrong thread or something. I'm sure this will be fixed when the ability to change themes is introduced.

Oh, this isn't really an issue but it would be a nice feature. If you could upload a full-size picture to use as you avatar and the forum automatically compresses it so its within the size requirements. I know other forums do this and I don't see why NICO cant.

Yes, word filter is not active at the moment. It is being worked on.

To everyone: Please don't abuse it.. Just because the swear word filter isn't active at the moment doesn't mean that its OK to post bad words.

Yeah Avatar took a while, I hope I can eventually change the color scheme, still figuring things out.

Some of the subforums links back to main forum page still, so I'll add in a couple days after everything is first settled.

Fudruckers

As someone mentioned, it looks like the edit feature goes away.

Also, the old forum used to have a little picture of a camera or something that showed up next to a thread listing to tell you it had images in the posts. Was nice, but not tragic if we don't get it back.

So this is my first post on the new system. Let me start off by sayin' that I like the new layout but it's going to take some getting used to. I have already had one problem. When I tried to log in, my password did not work. I had to get it reset, but I wanted to give you all a heads up. I also would like to have the stickies more defined and set apart at top. They're better after you log in, but before it was really hard to tell what the stickies were. Looks good to me though!

The password thing is going to be the one thing that really can't be changed. Passwords are kept encrypted, so they can't successfully transfer them over

Where is the "sign-in" link?

IDK if they removed it on purpose, but I had to click "Post Reply" to get to the sign-in page.

ALSO, can you switch the order of the Save Preview Submit buttons?
Having it setup like this makes much more sense.

The ones that are showing up are because we uploaded them today, after the new system went live.

How the hell do you edit posts!? I can't seem to find the button to do that. Scratch the avatar thing I went back and read the entire other thread. Will picking the color scheme you want be possible at all, or will it just always be this blue?

We are still working on the edit feature. Some people have it and some don't.

Color schemes, IF we offer them, will come after all the functionality problems are taken care of. That's NOT a promise or a guarantee!

when you're at the index page (forums.nicoclub.com) it's the third link down in the sidebar on the right.

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i think they're still straightening that out, but i imagine that there are more pressing issues to handle before that feature.

You can only edit a post for a few minutes after it was posted. I would think this can be changed somewhere down the line, but I'm not entirely sure. I would also guess that color themes will be changeable, but the crew that worked the launch worked through the night (they're probably all sleeping now) and when they get back to the site they'll probably fix critical issues first. Tweaks/preferences will likely come at a later date.

I am feeling that the default blue is just too light, especially with the light blue background. If it was darker it should help a lot.

Good stuff you guys! Keep the observations coming. The coding wizards will be working on all this stuff, and having a thread like this with a list of comments and concerns helps a ton!!!

More control over forum layout. For example, alternate layouts and the ability to customize little things like having the quick reply window stay open all the time without needing to click "quick reply". phpbb has lots of very nice things compared to zeroforum. I hated zeroforum.

The big one is that I really REALLY want a very basic custom layout such as what the Ruger forum looks like:
http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/index.php

That is my idea of the ultimate forum, very basic and simple. EASY to read without all the extra flash and graphics. Very easy on the server too. You should be able to easily add that forum layout to the list of custom forum layouts.

I edit posts sometimes even months after the original posting. It is nice to cut the fat out of something when I look at it later on and see that it could have been more effective saying less.

Avatar sizes need to be bigger, maybe 150 x 150 125Kb. I have a feeling once everyone gets on here you're going to get a lot of complaints from people saying they can't get their avatars to fit, especially the people who had animated avatars.

I was just going to post this, at least the file size needs to be increased.

We move to a new faster server with more efficient software, so file sizes have to go down?

Yeah, edit timer needs to be deleted.
DONE

Also, all the good old smileys are gone, and now I can't restore my avatar because never saved it (it was one of the smileys)

Also, watched topics says search is not available anymore (worked this morning) and the search link in upper right leads to a page not found.

Animated avatars are annoying. If you need to draw attention to yourself that much, there's a problem (or you're nala).

Critical issues first, THEN the gingerbread stuff.

Keep 'em coming, guys. :)
