what is this inside my door

i have a 02 pathfinder 4x4.
ive been hearing a noise whenever i close my drivers side door.
i finally had the time to take apart my door panel to see what it was.
here is the pic


ive tried searching at courtesyparts.com to see what it is.
i cant find it , i dont know what it does or where in the door it belongs
can someone help me out....

It's listed as "Cyl & Keys Stay" or "Stay-Key Cylinder". Looks like it bolts up behind the key cylinder to provide some sort of additional support.

Interestingly enough, I too have an odd noise in my door that sounds a little metallic, and I only hear it around some corners...
