Well these past two weekends have been very busy for me. Last weekend I went to Carlisle and put over 700 miles on the Z. This weekend I put over 1100 miles on the Z heading down to ZDayZ in North Carolina / Tennessee at Fontana resort at Fontana Dam. This was my first ZDayZ but it was their 10th. If you plan on going next year be prepared for some of the most beautiful mountain driving and some pretty outstanding shenanigans. No purple Drank but they do seem to have a bunch of mason jars full of apple pie and cherries. :naughty:

On with the pictures

The views are spectacular during our drives. The trip down and back included US129 "the tail of the dragon" but there are so many other routs that are mesmerizing. A p0ker run had us hunting for cards at various vistas on a 120 mile journey through the mountains.

Back at the resort there were more GTRs than I had ever seen in one place. They had a top dawg rolling start competition at the airport on Thursday. This was one of the competitors. 1100HP on pump gas....puts the DIC in riDICulous. They were every were on the mountain roads screaming past.

Car show on Saturday. This was all the "other" group. Seems blasphemy to put that dime over there next to the subie.

S30 in the house.

This was an amazing work of art.

And of course it had the very rare Datsun redtop SR20. The father of all SRs. ;)

Lots of vendors and shops.

This little guy's name was turbo. So cute.

And Nissan was there. They were out carving the mountain roads in their cars including the Juke R

Starting to grow on me. I think I like it.

And this 370Z

Hmmm, looks familiar....wonder if he wants to race?

Image

Many Z clubs were there. Some you do not want to challenge to shenanigans. Hard core stuff. All in good fun.

Exhaust competition.

All happened so fast. The weekend was over before I knew it. Definitely going next year. I wish I took more pictures.

Yes. I motion for scheduling of Carlisle not close to the weekend of ZDayZ so I can swing both next year.

Gord;
I saw your post some time back about coming, and wish we had met this year at ZDayZ (perhaps we did, and the 'fruit juice' got in the way? - or, well, I'm sorta old, and the spirits of ZDayZ this year may have inflamed my CRS?).
In any event, I'm one of the current set of organizers, and have been a serial offender at ZDayZ for the past 5 years. I have to note that I've not seen quite as succinct a review of our little 3 day party in the woods as yours. Thank you for that, and thank you for coming. The pictures do tell a story, eh?

Each year we invite a few thousand of our closest friends to the Great Smokys to, well ....take a drive and later tip a cup - each year more find the time to make it. Your good coverage begs the numbers to go with it.

Total Registered: 739 [we guesstimate that 'drive ins' on Saturday push the number on site by 10% - so perhaps as many as 70 more than we had officially registered]
Number of States: 31
Number of countries: 4
240Z: 17
260Z: 3
280Z: 14
280ZX: 13
Z31: 6
Z32: 94
Z33: 186
Z34: 91
G35: 55
G37: 18
GTR: 17
'Other': 108
Total Number of Cars: 617
Number of modified cars: 154
Number of Veterans Attending: 92 :patriot:
Number of Nissan/Z/G clubs: 36
Number in car show: 148

It has always been 'just a party,' and occasionally stuff like a car show will break out. One of the more refreshing aspects is that we get some unique cars, and most all are driven to get here, and by & large, (even those arriving on trailers) see wheel time on the awesome roads in the area. The Tail of the Dragon is but a slice of the pie in that regard.

It is worth mentioning (to me anyway :gotme ) that ZDayZ is not commercial endeavor for us. After all costs are covered, and some reasonably meager reimbursements for time and sweat is made - all remaining proceeds to to the local (to the event) Graham County Hope For Families Shelter hope-families.webs.com and this year to Semperfifund.org . Our donations will be in the thousands.

So, your attention is most kind, and we hope you and your fellow deniZens will join us next year. All info at ZDayZ.com (registration opens in January 2014), make your lodging reservations at Fontana Village Resort NOW!

Oh, ya'll probably have seen it, worth repeating - one of the (many) interesting moments from the exhaust competition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nB-kXAlZVY
