Today I was backing out of my driveway and when I put my foot on the brake, the pedal went straight to the floor with not much pressure at all. The car still stopped, and this was the only time it happened, but it scared the crap out of me. It's a 2012 with only 450 miles on it. I don't have much knowledge of brake systems on cars. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened or what caused this?

Now did the pedal actually hit the floor literally or is that metaphorically? Air in brake system or a leak. I suggest taking it into the stealership and have them look at it.

I'm not sure that it hit the floor literally, but it definitely went back further than it should have. I drove the car 30 or 40 miles after that, and my brakes worked fine. Is it possible that there was just a small air bubble in the brake line? I only have a basic knowledge of brake systems from helping my uncle with his once.

Could have been an air bubble, I would probably just take it to the stealership and probably convince them to bleed the brake system. Brakes is like a life & death type thing, this is something you do not want to ignore.

I've noticed something odd with my brakes also. It too is a 2012 Versa, Sedan with 530 miles on it. It stops fine. But while sitting at a red light or stopping for some time while foot is resting on the the brake, it sinks lower toward the floor.

A couple of times, after starting the vehicle, I've had an issue of not being able to shift out of park. I had to release the brake and press it again to shift out of park.

I looked in the owner's manual and it states it has self adjusting brakes whatever the heck that is. I don't know if that accounts for the break pedal moving toward the floor while stopped or not, but I am going to take it back to the dealer so someone can tell me definitively. I don't like it, it feels mushy, but it does stop without a problem.

Anyone else with a 2012 Versa notice the break pedal moves toward the floor while stopped at a red light?
