Not a very important question but I have two 94 base Q45s tan leather, green, same exact everything, or atleast that's what I thought until I removed both rear deck lids (the part under the rear window that the third brake light sits on. Funny thing is, that one has a ton of insulation in the form of that black matt that also covers the sheet metal on the floors and the thick fuzzy kind. Where the other one has none at all. Factory mess up?

I'm also certain that "pad" if you will is standard.

Question - Does the one without the pad have an aftermarket stereo/ sound system? If so, they may have tossed the pad when they did the install.

Both have the exact same speakers, head unit ect. Doesn't make sense why one has tons of insulation (I'm going to guess that's the way it is spose to be) and the other has none at all, and there was never any in it because I would be able to see where it was if for some reason someone removed it which is not the case. I'm definitely thinking the factory messed up or cut costs maybe? All in the same year though wouldn't make sense.

It a standard feature like he said. I have pulled the deck lid off of 4-5 different 94's and one 95 and they all had the insulation. Does one have the high top third brake light because of a spoiler? Thats the only difference I could think of but it should still have the insulation. Maybe someone did a fuel pump and the insulation fell off? Mine did.

They do make changes mid-year also. I got two window regulators off a 94 that had updated upper cable guide that are much, much stronger than the original that was in mine. Very common thing to break if the cable looses lube or something gets jammed.

My guess is that the deck lid has been off before (fuel pump replacement) and someone got rid of it for one reason or another.

That couldn't be as the paint looks 100% and there is absolutely nothing in there. I've taken lots of that out of my 240, and this Q on the floor s in spots. Even if you heat it up there will always be something left on the paint and no one would do that nice off a job. I'll pop the cover off later and take a picture of each. Makes me wonder what else they skipped on. + I put another fuel pump in it as I'm pretty sure the other one was stock as it seized lol.
I'll post pics later.

This car seems to be pretty good aside from the insulation missing, I personally could care less if it's there or not but found it odd.
I think one of the biggest things that need to be checked for are sings that someone might have messed with the wiring on the car before people buy one. The one I drive/race (no insulation) is a solid car it has its few problems but you can't expect to get a older car and it be 100%. My 2nd Q (with insulation) is not a good car because someone seems to have thought they were a electronic expert with all the wires I keep finding that are/were spliced, cut, w.e. the worst problems I find are from things like these that you just don't know about until you gut the car.

So if you see wires that don't look factory it's probably a good idea to take a better look at the car and maybe pass.
