Today, I took my 2006 qx56 to get serviced at infiniti. It needed an oil change, plus i wanted them to check the tpms light and brakes. i opted on the 72k recommended service for 370+tax (with synthetic oil). Since i haven't done any major tuneups/repairs to the car since i got it in april 2009, i figure it'd be a good time to get things checked.
so i get a call a few hours later, and they're telling me it needs front and rear diff fluid, cabin filter, and fuel injection service, etc etc
I tell them, no, i can't afford all that. They tell me i should at least get the frnt and rear diff fluid changed cause it looks low and like it's never been changed. I say ok. So now everything is going to come to 690 + tax.
An hour later, they call me with a BIG problem. The diff fluid won't stay, it's leaking, and i need a new whole front diff replaced, which is somewhere in the range of few grand. They tell me they have to check if it's under warranty, since i'm in canada and it's a US car, and if it'll be covered.
I'm real nervous now...what warranty do i have? do i autmoatically get the drivetrain warranty? will this be covered? i thought it wouldn't be, cause it's a 5 yr warranty, but i went searching at it says 2006 qx56 comes with 4 yr basic, and 6 yr drive train...the car has about 75k, or 52miles..
any insight?
