To verify the timing marks, I have snapped the following picture. I noticed a couple differences between this engine timing chain setup and the FSM pictures. The timing chain marks line up with the intake cam dowel positions and the sprocket marks. However, the cam chain colored links do not line up with the dowel positions. I believe CYL 1 is a TDC from the timing mating marks.

Does it look like I have the chains in the correct position or did someone install the chains and incorrectly position the colored links?

I'm comparing the cam chain the following diagram that is like the FSM.

and the following timing chain mating marks.

I have never done this job but from what i have read the cam mark is
offset as you have in the picture

You can also look at the camshaft lobes and see if they are in the
correct position per my previous research to confirm

Agreed. The Cam Dowel positions and chain TDC marks look correct. I'm scratching my head over the cam chain colored link positions and it makes me wonder if those were removed and reinstalled at some point in the past without regard for the FSM suggestion to be at opposite ends.

I have a leak testing kit. I'm thinking about running a leak test while I can easily turn the crankshaft just to see what happens.

if you look at the lobes on each camshaft they should be in their proper
position for Top dead center

I think on the leakdown test you get the engine at TDC, pump in the
air, and see how long the pressure stays-just generally speaking.
Listen for a rush of air coming out of the exhaust, radiator, or valve
cover. :ohno:
