Hey I hope you all don't mind but I wanted to make my own thread where I talk about the new stuff done to my car and kills and stuff like that. I am making some changes in my life and I wanted to use this as a way to keep me on track. I will start with who I am and kinda how I got to where I am today.One of my first goals is to learn more about my Z. I have never really been a hands on kinda guy and not really a car guy. Ok so from the start...My name is Kevin and I am from Owatonna, Minnesota. I first got into cars after the movie The Fast and the Ferious came out, like a lot of people did...I was about 17 I believe. The car I fell for was the Eclipse. I loved the look of the car and of corse it helped that it was in the movie. I did not know how to drive stick and figured I would just blow up the car when I went to college and wouldn't have the money to fix it, so I got an auto. I didn't know anything about turbos or anything...I ended up getting a 97 Mitsu Eclipse RS. It was clean and I loved it. I did the typical noob upgrades(but they did actually help performance). I did Ram air intake, full 2 inch exhaust and headers. Hey it got 38 miles to the gallon so I can't complain. Just to note, there was a considerable difference in performance after the upgrades. Here is a pic of it.I got a lot of attention at school for it and a bunch of pop thrown on it after I washed it...

Well I had a change of plans and joined the Air Force. I ended up in Germany. In Germany I got this pretty little thing...Alfa Romeo straight 6 turbo. The car had 210(at the fly) hp and I felt stupid for thinking my Eclipse was fast. But when I went back to the states I had to sell it.

My next stop was Langley AFB Virgina. I was now driving my Eclipse again and was bored after the Alfa. I deployed and saved up some money to buy a new car. I was walking around at the "lemon lot" and I spotted this striking white car. It said 300ZX and Twin Turbo. I was like OMG because this was on my list of cars "will never find" and there it was right infront of me. It was a 95 and the asking price was 11,500. I called the number listed to ask about the car. To my suprise a girl answered. I asked what was wrong with it? She said nothing, that they just needed to get rid of it. I set up an appointment to meet up with her to drive it. She pulls up in a brand new BMW and I was like ok I get it. Well she let me take it for a drive on my own...the first time I hit the gas I knew I had to have it. 3 days later it was mine.

There was 1 problem though...I had no idea what had been done to it. I could see it had rims and at least catback exhaust. Other than that I didn't know and she had no idea. I found a local place that deals with Nissans and took it there. The guy informed me that I only had catback exhaust. So I ordered a cold air intake and an appointment to dyno it. When I bought it back he told me that I had a cold air intake. He dyno'd the car and it came out to 305hp and 318 lb/tq. I asked him if there as anything else done. He said no. I was pumped to have that kind of hp just from intake and exhuast. Next I looked at the JWT chip upgrade. When I went to take a look at the chip it had the JWT sticker on it...I was pretty bummed out because I was hoping to get a lot more ponies.

I drove the car and loved it but then my enlistment was up and came back home. The car was extremely quiet and wanted to hear the exhaust. I figured getting the cats out would help me hear it. I went the the number 1 import place around and they told me it was illegal and could not find the part. I got mad and went to a custom exhaust place and they cut the cats out and put piping. About a week after I did that my clutch started to slip and got worse from there.

Ah and the Kills. I will start from the beginning.

When I first got my car I was driving it to the shop and ran into my first compitition. At this point I did not know what was done to my car. Anyways it was a Porsche Boxer and it rev'd at me at the stoplight. He totally gave up by the time I hit 3 gear. I was pumped! next came the real tests...I was next to an EVO at a stoplight(we were both making a left turn) When the light went green we both took the turn slowly and hit it when we got straight. I was nervous because he was right with me in 1st and 2nd but then 3rd hit and I pulled away. This was the first time I realized I actually had a fast car. was telling co-worker about my car and he said his friend had a 5.7 GTO with exhaust and tires. I said I wanted to run to see where my car was at. Ran into him on the highway leaving work. We dropped down to 2nd gear and I pulled him in 3rd and kept pulling away. After that all people said was "man ur car is fast as s*it. My favorite run ever the was the next one...Every day at work my supervisor talked about his car. He had a 2006 Acura TL. He claimed to beat everything, mustangs, evos, u name it he beat it. But yet he would not race me...so one day after work I waited for him to get off. I followed him and we ended up on the highway. I was planning to do 3 honks and go but he flys past me. I was like damn and down shifted. I pulled hard in 3rd and in 4th caught him and blew past. When I slowed down and caught up to me his car was smoking. He rolled up his window and didn't say a word. I found out a couple weeks later that he bought an Acura TL-S because of it...sorry dude my car is still faster...

Here are a couple Kills since I have come home...

Saturn Ion Redline- I had a few kills before I saw this car and this one surprised me the most. When I was on the highway I pass this blue Ion. I didn’t really pay it much attention because of my friends crappy car. All of a sudden he gets on it. I was like ok lets play. I let him get next to me and we hit it. To my surprise he hung with me for a second in 3rd gear before I blew him away. That is the first car I have raced that held on for a second in 3rd gear. Wasn’t even close though. By the time I was half way though 4th he was way back there a good 8-10 lengths.

Porsche Chyanne S-This one was fun. I saw him come onto the highway. He was hallin a**. I had to do 90 just to catch up to him. When I got next to him I saw a man and a boy look over at me smiling. We both punch it and I blow him away. I start to slow down and he gets on it and trys to fly past me but I hit it again and pulled him bad again. When he drove by me I gave him the thumbs up and he did the same.

2009 Honda Accord-I loved this one. I’m just crusing and this brand new Honda Accord V6 gets up next to me. It looked nice. I look over and its some kid with this girl. He gets one it so I drop it into 3rd and work him. He tries 2 more times with the same result. Good luck explaining that one to your girl

Cadillac STS-This was a fun one. I was going to work listening to music and I heard something. I look over and these kids in this Cadillac STS(not sure what year but it looked like late 90s maybe?) reving at me. They punch it and I catch up to them no problem. When I catch up I sit beside them for a second and drop it down into 3rd and tear away. I pulled 10 lengths or better in 3rd and 4th before I let off. When I looked back they were flying by traffic trying to keep up but it was no use. I slowed down to 10 under but they still wouldn’t come up next to me. Owned

Crappy Bike-This one was a little confusing for me. First off I will say that I am not one of those stupid people who think my car is faster than a bike because that’s just stupid. Anyways I was just getting on to the highway and I saw a bike. It was getting dark so I couldn’t see it really well but it was a crotch rocket. It was an older one, not a nice new one. He comes up next to me and revs and smiles. I was in the mood to play so I flip my sports supension and got in the other lane. I got beside him and hit it. I expected him to tear past me but all he did was hung about a car length back. I took my car up to 120 and slowed down and then he flew past me. I was kind of confused. I figured one of these 2 things happened. 1 he was scared of the curves on the road so he didn’t get on it all the way or 2 he didn’t expect my car to be that fast and was in the wrong gear and just couldn’t recover. Weird but a good story.

Pontiac Grand Prix GTP-Coming around the turn at a stop light I see a pontiac whip out in the other lane and come flying towards me. I see black rims and letters on the windshield. He gets beside me and looks at me. We hit it. He hangs with me for most of 2nd and then I hit 3rd and blow him away. Nice try kid.

That pretty much does it for kills up to this point.

Welcome Fly boy! haha. Good to have another soldier here. That is one super clean TT you have Sounds like you have the common "stage III" upgrades (intake, cat-back, ECU tune) Can't wait to see the progress

I have cold air intake, Stillen 2.5in exhaust(just measured it), JWT Chip upgrade and had my cats cut out. Here are a couple pics of whats gioing on under there because I have no idea...

Nice story.

The 166 is a lovely car... Seeing a Alfa Romeo on this forum was quite a surprise. I owned 2 so far and those are cars easy to fall for. Only shame is that they pull on the wrong axle - front wheel drive (except older ones which are fantastic but hard to come by now)...

Good luck with the Zed. It looks great... And stop that road racing thing... You've done it, so congrats on doing it the right way -> you won and didn't kill anyone nor got killed... But in the end of the day, there is no right way for RR.

to utilize the JWT tuned ECU, you must use the boost jets it came in. Check to make sure you have it, if not, get them.

you should feel a difference with downpipes/testpipes, no cats. the Z should roar.

if you already got all those, then disregard this post, cuz i hate reading long essays

totally agree.and goodlooking Z.your in va?or you bought the car in va?cause im in md and we have a decent size car club and its called MD MAX and NISMO CLUB.a max guy made it.thers for sure alot of maximas ther 4-5th gens.decent mods and couple Z`s.wel maybe we might be comming down to va for a small meet with va guys.we recently went to pa andit was a successs. anyway if your in va what part?

Ok noob question time. What is a boost jet and how do I check to see if I have them? The car had this stuff done to it before I got it so I really don't know much about the upgrades. The girl had no idea and I know what I do from just asking around and digging around.Yea I was going to do DPs because the transmission will be out but the turbo upgrade that I want are all 5 bolt so I would be buying a DP for just a year. I figured when I get the turbo I will go big and do exhaust manifold, DPs, and the test pipes, all 3 inch. I have 2.5 inch cat back exhaust but I don't think its worth the money for that extra half an inch...unless I am wrong?

I am actually not in VA anymore. I was stationed there for a year and a half and that is where I bought the car. I live in Minnesota now...I don't think there are any Z clubs or anything like that up here At least down in VA people knew what my car was...up here they have never heard of it or ask a lot of dumb questions.

Speaking of that, true story...I brought my car in to get the oil changed and have them look for the oil leak because I was leaking oil. I took it to the same place I took the eclipse. I got a call a little later and they were like hey we have a couple of questions. Um ok car experts lets here them. First what is the deal with your suspension, there is like 2 of them or something. I explain it to them...Next they ask so what kind of oil does it take? Really guys? Never seen anything nicer than a civic around here? Well not to my suprise they could not find the oil leak. Don't think I have to mention I never went back. Next place I took for the oil leak was the same. They could not find the leak. Brought it in for the next oil change and they informed me they had found the leak...every where...Oh good I went from no where to every where. I am yet to adress this problem but we are hoping to find it when I get the clutch done.

there's a small hose (1/4"?) running parallel under the intake hose. If you take that off, check to see if there's a small 'welding tip' inside that hose. same goes to the other side.

it should come with the stage III (JWT ECU) when the lady bought it. if not, buy some at the hardware store.

the leak was probably coming from the rear main seal.

As for the street racing...I know I know its just an excuse but I want to tell you my views on it. Should I ever really go much more than 10 over the speed limit? Well no but I'm going to do every once in a while. I am not into the street racing like in the movies. I like to do a straight shot. A quick straight shot. Its kind of funny I don't like turns because my car is great at them, then again I have never been on like a road corse. Also I am not wreckless when I drive. My friend likes to weave though traffic, ride on peoples asses and break hard. I never weave or ride peoples asses and I break extremely early and keep a good distance. If I did not feel the situation was right, I would not do it. Like you said I don't wanna wreck a nice are and I don't want to kill myself. My wife gets annoyed with my acceleration but then again she has been pulled over 3 times and totaled 3 cars in a little over 2 years(to be fair I don't think they were her fault but maybe if she paid better attention...) and she has been in 10 car accidents if you count the ones in which her friends were driving. I however, have never had a speeding ticket or a crash and have only been pulled over once and gave the cop some lip because I think he pulled me over illegally and didn't have anything on me.So I hear your warnings and I thank you. I also do not condone wreckless street racing but I also don't agree with sex before marriage and underage drinking but I did participate in both of those also When it comes down to it I will try and keep my speed to a minimum but I can't promise I may never hit 120 or more again

Ok awesome. I will just tell that to my friend when he does the car here in a couple of weeks. He can verify that and hopefully fix that oil leak all in one shot Man I hope he is able to do something like turbos and stuff like that. He can save me a lot of money...I will have to take the car in to get tuned tho.

Oh and thought I would mention that in my wifes last car crash she broke her back and has a bulging disc...yea its not fun...and FYI the air bags in the Eclipse did not go off...shocker I know...thank god an air bag probably would have done more harm than good in that situation.

They are also very heavy. I don't think they are as fast as people think. I know that Ion Redline would have lit them up. And if they are rated at 390 that is probably at the fly. I am probably pushing close to that but I am like 600 pounds less.

Today I cleaned out the car for the first time in I don't know how long...It was really kind of sad. The last year has been crazy for me...Today I plan on getting all the fluids done and my rims back on. I had the rims off for the winter. I will need to get different lug nuts or something though because on the front tries there was a spacer and they were seriously holding on by 1 thread. I was lucky those tires didn't fly off my car.

I just vaccumed the car out for the first time ever...It was sad...no one is ever allowed to have food in my car thats for sure.

So I know you guys are big on dress up and I think there is some stuff that could make it look better under my hood. What do you think about these?

Just thought I would mention that I got the pulleys today. Hopefully that means I will get the big stuff here very soon Bad news is its going to be bad weather comming up I was hoping to take the T tops off.

I got the clutch, flywheel and over drive pulley today. Just waiting on the underdrive pulley set. Just found out a little bit ago that I wont be able to get the stuff done until end of April but for 50 bucks in labor I guess I can't complain.

Ok so finally got all my parts. Turns out I already had pulley set, which I was waiting for. I was cleaning out the garage and I found an unopened box...It was my pulley set. I have no idea why it was in there...Well either way I won't get it done until the end of the month. I will take pics of the parts tomorrow.

perhaps replace the UR oil cap with the nismo one... just a thought
