I do not plan on tearing this motor down yet. I had it running in the z and it sounded solid. I have pulled the pan and checked lower end it all looks good in there. I am going to do a complete 60k kit on it before I put it on the road though. My ultimate goal is to get this damn car back together and running solid with the motor as is. Then I will source a spare motor and start aquiring parts. I would like a fully built motor for the car but may just end up going basically stock refresh build with a few upgrades. We will see how it performs with the stock motor with basic bolt ons. I have almost everything to finish the car except custom stuff. (driveshaft, intercooler piping, shifter linkage is a little long and needs shortend) Wiring is mostly complete thanks to my buddy Michael (S12 God). I or rather he has to either stretch or deloom and move a few connectors and wire up the wipers (similar to SR). The fuse/relay block in the s14 is not in the same place as the Z. He has done all of the crazy wiring for this thing including a jumper harness from my f3 plug to ecu. Transmount is in and solid, motor mounts are made but need to reinforce them a little better.

I will post some pics up in a few!
EDIT* I tried posting up a few pics my work computer wont' let me open photobucket correctly. I plan on spending all week in the garage so I will get some good pics.

We have mocked up all the accessories but the a/c. There is plenty of room in the engine bay. the 2 green relays at the bottom left were added and we also added a 10 amp fuse for power to the vvt solenoid.

Did some more work on the wiring tonight. Deloomed the harness and extended some of the wires. weplan to do a little bit of a wire tuck. we ran the cas, tps, on the drivers side of the engine, coolant temp sensors, coils and injectors will run up the center to the back and the rest will run on the back side of the engine. ptu will go in the fender. the wires going over the fender are to the ptu. every plug and sensor was matched by wire color so we are 100% sure they are right. routing the harness this way was tricky but will turn out clean.

Thanks! I am going to hit it hard again this weekend. I plan on getting wiring tied and loomed. That is pretty much ready to finish. I also have my z32 full set of brakes powder coated and ready to bolt on. I already swapped the rotors and all the other stuff. I just have to bolt on my calipers on all four courners and tighten up my stainless conversion lines. I am going to go over all the suspension bolts while I am in there. I already have a z32 rear diff and the correct axels installed. I need to shorten my shifter linkage to move it further forward. I found a company that makes one already and I think it will fit my car nearly perfect so I may buy that part instead of messing with it.

I had an update all typed up but when I pressed submit it deleted it all. I really dont' feel like retyping it all right now...so you get a brief summary. I did get more done on the wiring. Ran my battery relocate correctly and also my N2O spraybar lines. Pulled motor partly back out to get a bolt that was stripped in thermostat neck out and pulled the oil pan. The pan is with my welder now getting it patched up after I had to cut it to fit correctly. I also ordered the xcessive mfg shortened shifter bracket. I was highly considering making something similar myself but for the price and the quality I just spent the $150. All in all it was a productive weekend and I hope to get more done this one coming up.

Can you post some pics of your interior, more specifically your seats? How much did it cost you to get re-upholstered

Thanks, It is good to be back in working on car mode! It really is coming together, I decided I am just going to chip away at it a little at a time until its done.

As for interior, I actually bought a pretty clean 97 240sx parts car. It had the interior in it when I bought it. It appears to be factory done and I actually found a nissan sales brochure that had a black kouki with the same interior. I have never seen another one with tan. It could have been done aftermarket but I really doubt it as it is good quality and the car it came out of was low miles. It has the matching door inserts and rear seat as well. I will see if I can find a pic of the brochure.

fiznowler wrote:I really am not too worried about the wiring. I can handle that. What I am a little worried about is the manifold and turbo on the drivers side clearing the steering shaft. If I have to I will go custom but that is gonna take some more time and monies. I have had the kouki quite a while and put alot of time into her. There is no way I will leave this car undone. I have some pretty damn good help with the swap though. Methylprop is my local fellow Nissan fanatic and my partner in powdercoating. My cousin Michael is awesome at custom fabbing stuff and has done his share of unconventional swaps. This isn't going to be a quick thrown together swap, It will be right and clean and take a little time.
Why dont you just single turbo it so you would have space in the engine bay. You have a lot of spce behind the engine to run and join the pipe into one. Did the same for my friends vg30dett in a 2nd gen rx7. If you need some pics for example let me know. Thats going to be a monster! :ohno: :dblthumb:

I would love to see some pics! A single turbo would have been much easier. I I have a ton of room up front. For that matter a pair of turbos moved up front would have been easier. I was determined to keep them stock locations for now. Not saying when I get bored with this amount of power I won't move them up front and do some upgrades.

I need to replace a couple old style injector clips anyone got a better source than courtesy or ebay? I really don't want to spend 40 bucks on a couple clips but will if I have to. :werd:

The whole point of this build was too keep the stock twin manifolds and twin turbo setup.

I have made good progress on it but not as much as I would like. I have been moving my parents that live 5 hours away back to springfield. So that has pretty well ate up my past months worth of weekends. We are FINALLY done with that though so now I can get back to focusing on my car! I ordered the clips and got them in. My windshield wiper harness is complete with connectors to quick disconnect from the harness. my jumper harness is 100% done with consult wired in. I am to the point I can put my interior back together and get my dash out of my bedroom floor! I am going to get my garage back in order this saturday and hopefully get a full wrench day in on sunday! Also got my shortend shifter bracket installed on trans. It fits just about perfect! I will try and get pics up later. I am getting seriously close to taking this thing to have the driveshaft made and figuring out piping! :ohno:

I keep working on this thing a couple weekends on and take a month off. At this rate it should be finished in the next 10 years. :rotfl
I got my dash back in the car and alot of the interior. I had this thing gutted completely lol. I actually didn't end up short or with extra nuts/bolts and I pulled it apart around a year ago. Also my oil pan is all welded up and test fitted. IT CLEARS everything!!!! I am going to powdercoat it white for a little more sealing/protection and be easier to see leaks. I need to mount my z brakes still, But they are rebuilt already. I am seriously debating on selling my 00 civic hatch and driving my beater maxima for a while just to have another few grand to dump in this thing. She is getting so close I just want to drive her. :dblthumb: Here are some pics.

That's actually not as much modification as I would have imagined it would take to get the pan to clear.

You should see the crossmember... IT is hacked to hell and reinforced with some 3/8 steel bar.

Here is a BEFORE pic.

AFTER, Ignore the giant plates welded on for my motor mounts. They have since been trimmed down, cleaned up, welded and painted. This was just roughing it in with a tackweld to see what had to be cut.

Looking forward to seeing some more progress on this. Sweet swap. Doing the SR20 swap in my 91' 240, which isn't nearly as much fab work as this swap. Though, your swap is way more badass.
