There aren't seem to be a lot of picture tutorial on how to remove the headlight on the web, I decided to write my own detail picture tutorial and share it with you guy. Picture are taken with my phone so the quality isn't that good.

Tools you are going to need:
2 short flat rope or thick string
paper towels
flat head screw driver
wrench

First locate the 2 covers

Pry it open using the flat head screw driver. Once pry it open, use the paper towl and cover the nearby area to prevent the screw from falling in when you unscrew the nut.

Insert the rope between the headlight like the pictures shown

Grab the both rope, apply equally moderate amount force to both hand and pull it out. The wires connecting to the highlight are short and you might damage it if you yank it out too hard.

Be careful not to damage the white nub as it helds the headlight in position

This is what it look like when you remove the headlight

Replace the light bulb by twist it counter clockwise. Once done just push it back, cover the surrounding area with paper towel again to prevent the nuts from falling down and screw it back in. Put the cover back in once you're done.

That's is it but it can be quite a pain if you don't use the rope as a leverage to yank it out. Also don't mind the grammar as English is my second language.

You're grammar and tutorial is pretty good, you just gotta change all the "headlights" to "tail lights"

Hi!!! I've a Nissan Tiida (versa) 2011, i'm from mexico.
I've the service manual, but still having a trouble uninstalling the tail light. I remove the 3 nuts of the left tail light. But when i want pull and uninstall... can't remove it, some retain it on the left side. Do your tutorial works for me? Have u got a tutorial on video?
Thanks a lot!
Alejandro.

In the American Versa, there are only 2 nuts not 3 like the Tiida. I'm sure it will work because what holding the tail light tight in position are the clips after you remove the nuts.

Thanks for this tutorial. I used this Saturday on my 09 versa to change out my reverse lights to led bulbs and then again today to change a blown tail light bulb. the factory service manual was no help at all but this was great.
