first off its GARRETT. second off turbonetics sucks a$$. garrett is one of the best turbo brands out there. BORG WARNER is the best in my book. dont get a BB turbo there to big of a hassle. a 360 degree thrust bearing will set you good. please dont get a turbonetics. my good friend just dropped there sponcership for garrett. he had a brand new super 72 and it ate it self three times in a row on 26psi. so he got fed up and went with garrett and has not had one problem. hope this helps

Idk, Ive ran my little GT2871R @ 24psi and it didnt have a problem. Thats after 3 years of solid 20psi boosting. Whats a Super 72? I stand by Garrett to the end. Coming from the drag world, the GT42R and GT45R are very common incredibly high boosting turbos. I dont know of many serious track cars running Journal Bearing turbos anymore.

Ive heard the older turbonetics stuff is good but the new stuff is built using chinese parts and literally fall apart.

GT turbos all the way.

Just some random information for you guys.

The GT-R series are the most over rated, over priced turbos in existence.

Everyone says garrett this, ball bearing that. What the big drag guys have come to realize is, the journal bearing Borg Warner is a far better choice than the GT-R series in almost every way. The extended tip BW turbos have higher flow rates, higher surge lines, drop EGT's when compared to a comparable sized GT-R, are capable of reaching higher boost levels, is rebuildable and cheaper. The BW turbo at the same PSI will make more HP than the GT-R Garrett.

The GT-R series will spool 100-250 rpms faster than the BW turbo.. Thats all garretts got. BB turbos are kind of a gimmick if you ask me, and have been pushed on the turbo crowd for a long time by Garrett. They want you to not be able to rebuild the turbo, it makes them money.

Currently, pretty much all the drag guys have figured out that the BW is the way to go. The GT42R is NOT the main drag turbo anymore, its been replaced by the S372.

im running a holset hy35 on my fully built sr20 and love it. i picked it up almost new for 475 it came of an 05 cummins. the best part about it is a full rebuild only cost 75 bucks. my buddy has build several sr20's and all with different turbos and he said if he were to build another he would get a holset. all i can say is when it hits you better be ready for it.

is this on a street car? what kind of numbers are you putting down?

I've have been reading a lot of drag guys are using the BW, but I want a good spooling street beast and I got the hookup on a brand new 2871r. So I am now investigating the BW but not finding to much on all around street performers.

the k27.2 has a beautiful compressor map for an sr20det, its very streetable. to me, its like a twin scroll gt30.

twin scroll - great spool, and it has some left over after the red line.

people are using the bullseye power turbos, which are BW

and

there's also holset... in this holset thread, there is a guy from Argentina using a hx35http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=306724
