My brother just bought a G37X sedan. He gets around 12 MPG. Is there parts we could replace or other steps to improve it? He just started using premium gas. Thanks in advance for any ideas! My name is John,I'm his older brother,59 just marking time now.I used to do my own repairs on a lot of older cars used for delivery. Nothing even close to an Infiniti 2011.

Perform a reset process and let the car relearn: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/g35-ho ... rning.html

The above should work on a G37. Make sure the air filters are replaced as well.

Thanks so much Aud! I really appreciate your help. I guess I could find how to replace air filters in this forum?

Thanks once more mod! Is there a name I could call you? You might consider Aud disrespectful. One more ? about the cigarette lighter tray. My brother trying to force an adaptor into the lighter port put a big bend in the metal sheet that goes back around the lighter space and goes around the shifter for the transmission. Is this easy to replace, I thought you might be able to peel off the damaged one and glue a new one on.

So sorry Aud! I just realized if I'm going to ask new questions I should change the subject line and post anew! Please forgive me for illegally bothering you buddy!

I'm Matt, but Aud works. We have no issues with run-on questions here but it might be viewed more by others if opening up a new thread :)

Not sure as I've never experienced it. If you can't bend it back and you determine it needs to be replaced then I'd suggest looking on ebay for people selling lots of salvaged G parts and query them. I know there were a crap-ton of used parts a year or so ago due to all the hurricane damaged cars in the NW so there were lots of cars being parted out. If you are not sure how to remove the part then I'd suggest going through the FSM on how to do it. I've recently broken out the FSM pages for the G37 on NICO's G37 page: http://www.infinitig37.com/coupe.html

From the link, on the right-hand column you will see FSM links. Simply select your year. Be patient as at times it can be a pain to find what you want in all those manuals. Sux they don't have a full index anymore.

Thanks again Matt! I'm going to check FSM pages. Do you think Octane boosters and injector cleaners work? My brother just switched from regular gas to premium hoping that might help. I'm going to try the reset next week when I change the air filters.

You can get excellent MPG with a G37 on long road trips
Just returned from a round trip from NJ to Florida and got excellent MPG using regular 87 octane

While in Florida there were lots of short trips and that is clearly shown.

The four fillups prior and the four fillups on the return gave me excellent MPG

A G37X is AWD so you will see lower MPG.
Using premium fuel is not going to increase MPG
It will just make your wallet lighter.

Thanks Telco! Since my bro switched to high test gas he says the car runs smotther and responds quicker to hitting the gas. Next week I'm going to reset the engine as Matt suggested and I'll also change the air filters. Would changing the plugs help? Thanks everyone for all your help!

Plugs are supposed to be good for 100k miles. If you are over 70k then it can be a consideration.

To get the trim for the ashtray area off it's in the Instrument Panel section (IP-14). Everything is in the FSM but sometimes you just have to click and search different ones as Nissan/Infiniti no longer provide indexes for them.

Thanks all! I founda page that shows all the trim parts but no advice on removing and installing damages parts. Should I copy and paste the page in my post or just give a location? Plus I've been asking for help for a G37s but the car is really a G37x. What's the difference please?

Keep the tires properly inflated, use the right engine oil and take it easy on the gas pedal. :)
If the check engine light isn't on, there isn't likely much you can do about the mileage. :frown:
The plugs aren't due until 105K miles, and aren't the problem.
G37X is an all-wheel drive vehicle.
Also gets worse fuel milage due to the extra weight and drag.
Enjoy
