Hello all,

I've read this forum for some time, but this is my first time posting. I am having trouble removing the power steering pump on my 1994 Infiniti Q45t. I've removed the hoses and, loosened the rear and front brackets, but the pump just won't budge. I've looked at the FSM, but I can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Anyone else had this problem? Is there a bolt somewhere I am missing?

Thanks for your help.

Did you reach through the holes in the pulley and remove any bolts there?
If they are all out, you sometimes need to pry gently and push the pump off its mount.

Thanks for your reply.

I just tried removing the bolts through the holes of the pulley, but could only get to two of them. Are these the bolts to the pulley bracket? It looks like they are, but I could be wrong. I have loosened the pulley bracket, and it moves freely. It looks like even if I got the third bolt off, the bracket is already loose, and the pump should be free. Again, I could be wrong – I am definitely missing something.

Thanks again.

If you haven't looked at the factory service manual (available at www.infinitiservicemanual.com ) I would check it out. Section ST. There's a pretty good diagram of how it's attached.
