how does the whole process work.. are the ones on my steelies programmed to the car or do they just sense them.. meaning if i bought another set of wheels that had some tpms on them already.. would the car read them as well or do i need to program them to the car? sorry for the stupid questions but i have no idea how this tpms works

The TPM system is comtrolled by the Body Computer. You'll need some hacking skills to turn it off.
Any time a new sensor is installed, the system needs to be reset. See FSM.

I found a pic of the backside of an instrment panel. All illumination is done with LED's. You could try removing the board and "modifing" the idot light circuit.
Personally, my light has been reminding me to "check the tires", since last September.

I have two set of rims for my Versa one programed to the TPMS and my winter set not programed, in the winter the TPMS light stays on until the summer tires go back on.
