I have new rims and tires on my car with new tpms sensors. I install them 9/12 and I never sync them to the car. now I am thinking about taking out the old sensors from the factory rims and transfer them to my new rims. The factory rims are already marked left front, right front etc. I am thinking this way I will not have to take it to the shop to get sync.
I read these sensor batteries have 5-7 yrs life span. I am also considering that the rims were sitting for almost 6 months in the garage and I don't know if that affected the sensors in a bad way.
I plan to break the bead at home with a 2x4. I know it would be hard work breaking 8 beads.

I had my first one replaced on my 2006 m35 before I sold it to my cousin.
It had 130k miles on it. Some places like discount tire will synch up your new ones for no charge.

The tpms sensors are the largest pain in the butt I have had with my car. I don't bother with them anymore. If one tells me I have a flat I ignore it. I'd like to get rid of them.

Using a 2x4 to break the bead? I my opinion I'd think on that one a little more. Those beads are not that easy break. Perhaps a tire company with the right equipment is in order?

After posting the above a couple days ago, I'm driving to work this morning and sure enough... tpms indicator comes on.
I switch to the tire pressure screen and one is sitting at **.
I guess it's time to get my first one replaced on this M.

I will just shop around for a cheaper place that could sync the new sensors. Most of the tire shop i went to don't have the equipment to do it.

I purchased two sensors from Discount Tire for $65 each during a tire and wheel swap as two of the originals were fused to the old rim due to salt corrosion. They synced them up and they work just like the two remaining originals. $130 total and everything works as new.

i also noticed the same problem as a few others have said. Just bought my 06. When i go to the navi, the front left and the rear right tire show a pressure gauge,. ut the top right and bottom left show *****. Seems the tires were rotated, and the sensor didnt update. Any thought how i can fix this?

I had my wheels balanced, rotated, and an allignment done 2 weeks ago where I have my tire-work done. After I left the shop, no readings from the TPMS on all 4 wheels. I took it back, and they put a 'reader' next to each tire and determined they were sending a signal, and my computer was not receiving it. That removed any possibility they were broken at the shop.
After reading this thread, it seems the car takes a while sometimes to actually reset and read the sensors. I waited a week, driving it every day and no luck. I drove up to Maryland last week for a rugby tournament - no readings when we left the house. About 400 miles into the 1200 mile trip, BAM - all four sensors were showing and they are still working fine today.
When I told my guy at the Infiniti dealer, he could not explain it, but he did mention that these things are 'strange' and in his experienced, they will either reset immediately, or at varying time delays after any wheel is removed from the vehicle.
He told me if it happens again, to drive on the freewway for an hour, and if that fails wait AT LEAST 2 weeks before bringing it in to avoid charges for them to work on it.
