Had an accident with my '05Q last week. Unfortunately, it was my fault, and while the actual damage is not too bad, my insurance company adjuster has the damage value at close to $6,500 (which to them is almost a "total"). And most of it is for parts. So, here is my problem. I love the car (have owned it for 4 years), and it now has 170k miles on it. My insurance company will give me after my deductible $7,300 for the car to be totaled. One half says, get it fixed. The other says it's now a nine-year old car with 170k and a collision. I'm interested in an M45x, and I can pick up a 2008 with under 100k for $17k. Any thoughts fellow Q owners? Mentally, I'm ready to move on - the M looks like a very nice car with some additional features I like (Bluetooth, MP3 audio, etc.) Anybody know anything about these cars?
Thanks.................

does yours use any oil?
total it with a buyback clause and sell it for the engine to the other member looking for a non-consuming 2005 VK45DE.
win/win

Only you can decide which direction you want to go. I personally don't like cars with repaired body work, but that's just me.

Definitely check to see what they'll let you buy it back for after the settlement. If your headlights aren't damaged that's instant $$$ on ebay right there, seems like probably $1000 or so the last time I checked. Even damaged ones bring in some cash if the projector assemblies aren't broken. The LED tail lights bring a decent bit of change too. Pull a few popular parts, and you could probably still sell it for scrap and get back your "investment" in the buyback.

The cost of installing Bluetooth and MP3 audio in your current Q would be chump change - Much less than just one monthly car payment on that $17,000 M.
