Hi all,

I was wondering whether anyone has ever used the Topline rebuild kits? If so, how is it holding up? I really don't want to overbuild my engine since I'm planing to stay under 300 whp with turbo pushing no more then 8-10 psi. Therefore, I will not be getting forged internals. Anyways, where is a good place to buy oem pistons/rods?

I haven't heard good or bad about that particular brand, but in my opinion, if you have the available funds, I'd do as much as possible. That includes forged internals. Better to have them, if you can, that way when the 'boost bug' hits, you can crank up the PSI

I have heard some bad things about topline oil pumps. You can google it yourself, i would go with nothing other than OEM for the oil pump. Its just not worth the risk. Also, FR-Sport has OEM rings for 90 bucks, id just go with those. ACL bearing set from ebay rods and mains for 45 shipped. 220 for a OEM oil pump at wholesale price.

Theres really no reason not to re-use OEM pistons unless they are scored up or dammaged. They are going to be better than aftermarket oem replacements.

I can sell you some good condition pistons/rods if you want, i have a few untouched OEM short blocks that are in good shape. [email protected]

How about ITM pistons from partsdinosaur.com? Anyone ever use them? And I'm trying to stay away from forged pistons since it's way out of my budget and hence leaving me with not much $ for my turbo stuff. Any other suggestions/recommendations are appreciated. Thanx!

perhaps forged internals, and save more for a bangin kit instead of just a 200whp setup.

eh, eh?

I rebuilt a KA with a Topline kit a few summers ago, and I remember being NOT impressed at all with the quality. Just like everything else though, you get what you pay for. It will work, just don't expect your rebuilt motor to be "stronger than stock," "like new" or anything like that. Its the cheapest crap you can get, and it shows. ...Just my opinion
