Welcome.

Your best best is probably finding a used motor using eBay, a junk yard, or a site like car-parts.com and then having it swapped in. It will cost you a few grand though all said and done.

Yeah, a swap out would be your cheapest way to go but I'm sure, like most people, that you have a ceiling of money you are willing to spend on your car before you junk it. Mine is 3k, so if my motor or transmission goes, it's bye bye m45. I also drive an '07.

Loved my '06 M45 before it was rear ended and wrecked. The advantage of the VQ motor compared to the VK is that there are not many options for replacing the VK45DE, might be hard to find a used one that might not crap out on you after it's all said and done.

I wonder how difficult it would be to put the 5.6 liter V8 in there??? If your are mechanically inclined you could save a bundle on labor, but man would that be a job, things might not match up perfectly, I know the headers are different, but I'm sure there are other differences as well

good luck!!!

How bad are we talking David - threw a rod through the oil pan kind of bad? Clanking sounds? Still driveable?

1. You could try to get the engine rebuilt depending on the damage, but I have no idea how much it costs. I only know of one person who's had it done professionally.
2. Replace the engine with a used one from another v8 as suggested above.
3. Sell the car as whole or parts if the repairs exceed your ideal cost.
4*. Replace the engine plus harness with a v6, which are easier to find.

Engine rebuild ran me around 3500 including shipping. My shop charged 1800 in labor to remove and out back. So figure 5 to 6000 for rebuild unless you do labor yourself.

Thanks to all for the replies!

The car runs and moves fine its just loud! No leaks!

I have invested alot of time and money in this Girl! The car is paid for so its not something im rushing to get done!

My thoughts now are to store it in my garage up on stands until I get a solid direction on what to do! This is for sure a fun project car!

My next inquiry would be the best way to store? I will put up on Jacks remove wheels to prevent any tire issues.Drain all Fluids. any other suggestions for storage?

I will be looking for engine to replace. Im interested on suggestions for Mechanics to do the work. I will not have time for sure to do this.

I live in Acworth Ga. so any suggestions for trustworthy car guys with Infiniti Prowess. I can have towed within a 60 mile area. A Speed shop, restoration or fabricators that are mod guys, something like that?

Again I appreciate the input and look forward to the suggestions.
