Hey gang,

I have a moderator job opening that I'd like to make every one aware of.

Position Title: Moderator ~ Greeter/Unanswered threads manager

Duties:
Do you love NICO and want to give something back? Are you a social, outgoing e-personality who would enjoy helping out NICO's membership? We're looking to bring on an enthusiastic NICO member to help improve the user experience here on the NICO forums. The job duties include managing the "unanswered threads" on NICO and keeping an eye out for new members and giving them a friendly welcome when you see them.

Requirements:
You must have an understanding of NICO culture that comes from at least a few months membership here. No specific post count is required.
You must have some free time (a couple hours a week) to devote to this task and the enthusiasm to make it fun.
You must have a strong grasp of the English language and be able to communicate effectively.
Basic computer skills and understanding of how to navigate our forum. (especially the search function)

What is not required:
You do not need to be an EXPERT in any technical field. You just need a basic understanding of Nissan products and general awareness of how cars work. We don't expect you to know all the answers and answer all the questions. We simply want someone who's willing to address unanswered threads and help lead the member to get more help.

More info:
Here at NICO we've always taken pride in the friendly and helpful environment that we provide to our family of members (165,000+). Evidence of this is our consistent effort to welcome new members and attempt to help or at least respond to the best of our ability to all requests for help. We are looking to bring on at least one new moderator to concentrate on unanswered posts. The new moderator will keep an eye on the unanswered posts link and try to respond to as many possible. They are not expected to know all the answers. They will most often use the search feature to find possible answers and then remind the user of the search feature. In other cases they may point the user in another direction to help them out. Sometimes they may move the thread to another forum to have a better chance at an answer. Sometimes they may ask the user to provide more details about the question. Frequently they will ask other moderators who have car or engine specific knowledge to help out with that thread. The bottom line is that we want all users to at least have someone try to respond when they post a question. Nothing is a bigger turn-off than posting a question and getting zero response.

What's in it for you:
You'll get to join the best forum leadership team on the net. Understand this is a volunteer position... none of us get paid. We do it because we enjoy the forum, enjoy having status on the forum, and being part of a great thing!

To apply:
Feel free to post in this thread or PM me directly for more information.

Thanks in advance to all who are interested.

I have time. Do you need my resume and references? They're all terrible.

i like welcoming new folks and have, at times, actually gone through unanswered threads to try and help. i've made friends (as well as enemies, i'm sure) but my main thing was trying to bring some light and humor to a great community. in short, i offer my services, time, and this awesome cake (yes it's out of season, but it was on clearance and times are tough)

sbird, dre, numbnuts, added to my list.

No official resume is required. I will review each person based on my knowledge of that person, references from other moderators who may know that person better than I, and based on a review of their prior post history. Again, note that post count is irrelevant. I'm looking for people who are helpful and enthusiastic!

I'll give it a day or two to collect "applicants" then come up with a "short list". Once I have that group, I'll send out more details and a basic moderator "how-to" guide to see if you have any questions. From there I'll review with Greg and other leadership and we'll make a decision.

THANK YOU for you willingness to come on board and help.

Please note that if you are not selected, don't let it hurt your feelings. Chances are if someone was picked instead of you, it was because they brought a little more to the table. Know that your willingness to help is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.

One last thing to note...

I am personally SWAMPED this week with family, school, and job hunting.. I have a major paper due soon in my MBA accounting course among other things. So please understand if I am not able to reply to anyone's inquiry immediately. I will respond to every message and inquiry.. I promise.. I just have to manage my time as best I can.. so please forgive any delayed responses.

idk, but i'm more concerned about the size differences up in the north pole. let's say that santa is average human height, that's one big a** bird. and if that's an elf house, elves are effing tiny. how the hell does a guy that small work a lathe to make baseball bats?

I'd assume it would be like a normal human making a boat. Larger tools for larger products. I agree with you though, that bird is effing HUGE.
