Hey guys its been a while since i've showed my face. Now before I get bashed..I did use the search buttin on the top right of the screen and didnt find any articles that explains how to install it lol. I get links to pictures and stuff. I just wanted to know what tools I needed and how long does it take? My birthday is in two weeks and my girl is getting me the grill. If someone has a link with steps on how to do it, I would appreciate it. THanks.

AAAHH!!! I was just thinking about doing a writeup on this as I was removing mine this afternoon! It's really quite straightforward though...

First step is to remove the front bumper (there's a link in the how-to section). That's pretty much the most difficult part. After that, it's simply a matter of removing the six plastic push-clip-thingies and removing the stock grille, then inserting the C-Mod from the front. I took some pictures this afternoon as I was removing it so I'll try and upload them when I get home...

Bumper's easy. There's a series of black plastic tabs, and a couple different kinds of screws. If memory serves, you'll need two Phillips-head screwdrivers (don't recall the sizes )and you'll need a flathead to pry off the tabs.

Tabs are tricky, and can break easily if you're not careful. They're made of two pieces - an outer ring and an inner plug. What you need to do is pry the inner plug up from the outer ring; once you've got it popped up all the way, the whole tab will come out by pulling on it gently. These are used all over the car, and can be tricky the first time (they get dusty and that keeps them from releasing easily). There's some on top of the bumper and on the bottom, connecting the bumper to the plastic sheathing underneath. They're used all over the wheel well, too, so if you ever want to change your own oil filter for example, you'll need to get friendly with them.

If you don't have a place to put your bumper, find a thick blanket and place it on the ground and then your bumper on top of the blanket, unless you like scratched paint. If you've got foglights, you'll need to disconnect those - the wiring drops down from the headlights (which don't come off during this task) and the foglights are held on by a bolt to the bumper. This is a task that's much easier with two people.

Ha, how convenient I'm going to install mind this weekend. I'm going to paint my radiator black though first so you don't notice the bumper support bar. I would rather not have to cut that and fabricate a slimmer support bar.

I think because you need access from the back up the bumper to get the grill off. I'm not sur though its been a while since I had the bumper off.

Here you go!

1. Remove bumper following the DIY writeup -> http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=293385
2. Remove the factory grille by pushing the plastic clips off of their retainers

Detail of retaining clips and tabs:

3. Install the C-Mod Grille by hooking the top of the Grille and then pushing the bottom clips on to the bumper.
Note: I had to trim a little off the C-Mod Grille upper tabs in order to get the right fitment.

4. End up with a great looking A/C!

when I installed mine, I assumed that it would take less than an half an hour (since I'd already had experience removing the front fascia). But those two friggin' tabs on the C-mod grill just WOULDN'T FIT! It was after about an hour that I finally decided to bust out the dremel and shave the tabs to make it fit.

but other than that, super easy install

^ See - this troubles me. C-Mod obviously had some kind of AC 'blueprint' to make this to spec, no? Then how the hell does it not fit PERFECTLY?

I'm just not into spending good $ on aftermarket parts 'specific for my model' that require modification to fit.

Well the grill is made in Hong Kong, and I'm sure they don't have any Altima's there. Nothing is perfect, especially when it comes to body work/fitment.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed that it didn't fit perfectly. But then again, I'm glad that that those tabs were too big and required to be trimmed, rather than being too small and not be able to fit at all. I'm going to pretend that's what C-mod had in mind, so I'll let it slide...

Yeah...if it's too small then your pretty much f***...

Did it bend at all when you had to cut it?

yeah the tabs were able to bend just enough to fit.. but it felt pretty risky since I kept feeling that i was this || close to snapping the tab off

Another nice looking Gray!

I guess all of my complaints to C-Mod finally worked, I'm glad you didn't have to trim anything.

Sorry, not trying to thread jack but what if I liked the Nissan emblem? Will I have to buy a new one to put on the C Mod grill or is it possible to remove the old one from the stock grill.

A quick look at sig photos above for comparison...I'm not seeing discernible difference from gaps in stock grill
