I don't turn the heater on, I just don't turn the A/C on either. I just mean that the A/C itself works fine, but since the coolant flow to the heater cores is stuck at max, I can't USE A/C since it blows hot. I just leave all the climate control off and let the peltier seat coolers keep me from sweating.Razi wrote:You're a strange creature MoD. I'd hate having the heater blow at me.
I can't run the A/C cause it shoots the coolant temps real high.
After many years of driving like this, I'm pretty used to it.

Another pool guy on the boards! I own a small pool and spa service company. The heat is brutal this year. I drank almost 2 gallons of water yesterday and didn't pee once. I can't believe it's not even July yet.leesredgt wrote:It sucks ballz. I build swimming pools for a living so i have to be in it all day; as this is our busiest time of year obviously.

Changing subjects, I had a GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant) that always wore pants (not black), and would roll 'em up above his ankles when it got hot - refused to wear shorts. We' always ask if he was hot, etc... When I went to Hollywood to visit my sister one summer, no one there wore shorts either. I was even asked where I lived because I was wearing shorts and it was 90º outside. Odd how different regions act/react to mundane things like that.MinisterofDOOM wrote:<---Wears long black pants through the whole damn summer.
i've been trying to limit a/c usage on my exploder to highway cruising. but the last couple of days, i've resorted to normal a/c on speed 1 or 2 with windows open. i currently have 160k on mine and it's holding up just fine.Looneybomber wrote:Luckily my AC works great, however, if it gets real hot out, I don't like to run my AC in town because I feels it's too hard on my 'Sploder. I just turned over 100k and don't want to kill it.
The car's seats are covered in perforated leather and rather than having traditional electric heating elements, they use a peltier heat pump. Peltier pumps can add or remove heat, so you can use them to cool the seats as well as heat them. Each seat has its own fan (which is a LITTLE noisier than I'd like) which blows heated or cooled air through the perforated leather. The seat coolers feel a bit like sitting in a cool stream. It's a bit odd the first time, because it's the kind of cool feeling that makes you think you ARE sweating.MuranoDriver wrote:Please give more info!!MinisterofDOOM wrote:I turn on the seat coolers, open the sunroof and windows, and smile.![]()
My backside gets sweaty with the A/C on full blast!
i was talking to my cousin the other day who owns a shop and he was telling me how much his business picks up when the hot weather comes around. with the heightened ambient temperature already making your engine warm (i turned my exploder on today after sitting all night and the temp gauge was already off the resting stick), and a possible cooling system not working to optimum efficiency, the extra load on the engine from the a/c being on could possibly cause problems. the majority of people really don't stay on top of preventative maintenance on their vehicles so i can see how it could become an issue.Dattebayo wrote:I don't understand why people believe that running the A/C will hurt your engine?
Most likely.ScorchedNX2K wrote:Driving to Tucson for the 4th in my Miata with no A/C...am I going to die?
The goal for Greg and I is to have a home in Prescott one day. The highs rarely venture into the 90s. Yes, please, and thank you.sx moneypit wrote:Suppose to be 105 degrees here today, the only saving grace about it is that the humidity is fairly low and i do have a big Porta Cool fan to keep me half a** cool while i work on these hot a** cars.
This heat is really making me seriously think about moving to Flagstaff or Prescott Arizona.
