TMPS Light NYS Inspection

Does the TMPS light have anything to do with the state inspection? I live in New York, and I'm curious if I didn't bother getting sensors when I buy new wheels if it would keep me from passing. According to the places I go, they say that I have to purchase NEW sensors along with the wheels, That's money that I really don't want to spend, especially to tell me my pressures low. I have eyes for that!!!

Well, if you can believe this link, then you're safe. I'm not sure, because my state is listed as "No" but I'd always assumed otherwise.

I just found the NYS DMV brochure on inspection, too. Doesn't mention TPMS. (Ain't Google great?!)

why not just swap your sensors over to the new wheels and not worry about it?

ive had 3 sensors die on my versa and finally said screw it and ran without them, car will pass ny inspection (buffalo ny here).
