tires for a z32

tires for a z32

I am the proud, original owner of a 1996 z32, number 129 of the last 300.
The car has just turned 30K miles and i am looking at replacing the tires after 8 years, car is not driven much, just keeps my 74, early model 260z company in the garage. Based on driving, i do not need to put high profile tires on the car. I went to discount tire and they recommended non-directional tires, kumho ecsta, 4x. Something sticks in my memory that the z32s tires were often mis-mounted in the earlier days by tire chain stores and that this car indeed needed directional tires.
Am i wrong or is my memory not accurate. Any input is much appreciated.

id say put the best tires that fit your budget and driving style.just make sure that they put the wheel on the right way and not backwards.
i like toyo proxie4 but thats my opinion, also dunlop direzza star specs are supposed to be the s***,im going with those as soon as i need to replace my tires.
good luck and please post some pics of your car

Non-directional tires should be fine. The issue pertained to tire companies who screwed up the pattern when they did 4 tire rotations.

Welcome to Nico! My name is mark.

Being that it's not real common for a tire shop to mount directional tires backwards. Makes me think you vaguely remember hearing something about the wheels being mounted wrong, which happens all the time. The factory Z32 wheels are directional, they are designed is to help cool the brakes because the wheels act as a fan and actually pull air out of the wheel well. Make sure the tire shop that changes tires put the wheels back on the same way they came off. (assuming the wheels are currently installed correctly)

If you have any questions feel free to post some pictures or ask questions.

Also when you get a chance come drop in the Z32 general section and make a new intro thread... Don't forget pics... We love pics :)
