I have a 2009 Rogue S w/ 112k miles on it. Just recently theres a tinkering noise coming from the engine after I start it and whenever I'm idleing. It only happens sometimes. I've been told it could be a belt or fan. Does anyone know what this could be? :frown:

Keebler Elves? Sorry, couldn't resist. Could you please clarify? "Tinkering" is an activity, not a sound. It's really hard to diagnose symptoms without actually hearing them. Does your Rogue exhibit any other symptoms?

welcome aboard! can you post a video of this "tinkering"? tinkering is an action - not a noise.

Welcome! tinkering is a verb...an attempt to repair something.

All kidding aside we really do want to help you. Have you been doing your scheduled maintenance? Have your belts ever been replaced?

Hey LglGrl25, hope you weren't put off by our noob hazing, we're a fun bunch here and it's all in good fun.

Do you or a friend or relative own an Android or iPhone? You could install a free recording app, and upload a sound clip of your engine noise. Maybe we can help narrow down your sound problem.

That's sound is the Nissan self maintenance system operating normally. There are little japanese elvs that are installed in the engine compartment and come out to do repairs. They are programmed to do most of their work at night, but if you get up real early, you can hear them. At the end of their shift they all troop back to the storage box singing Yeooooo, oh Yoooo weeee ooh ( Hey, at least you weren't given an Avatar, I had that happen to me once!!!)
