Im getting a chatter from my timing chains and i was wondering if i should just replace my chains and tensioners but Ive read that timing chains are supposed to last the life of the engine and that the problem with the 4th gens is the tensioners going out. I was just curious if that was true and if it is should i replace my chains with it or could i just replace the tensioners?

My car has 192kmiles so i may replace the chains anyways unless they look good.

You should be fine just replacing the tensioners unless the chain has been damaged due to being loose and slapping around.
