How to I tighten the serpentine belt? I've been looking for threads on how to do this but can't find one that shows which idler pulley to tighten..

If you have teh '04 LE in your sig, there are two belts - one does power steering and the other does the alt - in any case, one goes to the left and the other to the right.

depending on which one you need to tighten, you will first need to loosen the nut on the idler that serves the belt you want to tighten.

then crawl under the truck, remove the plastic shield and look for the hex-bolt that goes to the idler on the side you are working on. (there will be two as there are two pullies)

a few righty tighties and you should be done. the FSM says with about 20lbs, the belt should deflect about 8mm or so. Not knowing how loose the current belt is, it probably shouldn't take too many turns of the tensioning bolt.

When satisfied with the level of play, tighten the nut on the pulley with 28ft-lbs and replace the plastic cover under the engine and your done.

hope that helps.

I hope you were talking about the accessory belts because those are the instructions I gave you. I guess so because the camshaft timing is controlled by a chain.
