I've had this auto shifting problem with our car for a while now and although the CEL does not display any code for the TPS, I decided to do a resistance check of the TPS to see if this could be the culprit - as suggested in numerous articles that I've now read.

I followed this guide here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Mwxicmpg4

The results should be something like this:
Accelerator Pedal Condition Resistance in k Ohms
Completely released Approx. 2
Partially released 2 -10
Completely depressed Approx. 10
Now my results were
Accelerator Pedal Condition Resistance
Completely released Approx. 0.6~0.7
Partially released 0.6~0.7 - 14.4
Completely depressed Approx. 14.4

The car has no problems idling at all or problems with the running of the engine - but I am experiencing shift issues per this thread here:

Well, despite not having a TPS error code (or obvious TPS problems) - the TPS was showing readings well out of tolerance for the car.

Just changed the TPS today - which is the second TPS the car has had since owning the vehicle - and now the gears are changing perfectly!

It's taken a while to get to the bottom of this but it was a very cheap and easy fix now that it's over! :werd:
