SO, I always say the coolest thing about what I do isn't really the cars - It's the cool people I get to meet while doing what a car guy does...

This weekend, my best buddy Jason (rotorimp) needed an L24 for a pristine 72 Z he picked up (sans motor). He finds one on Craigslist and asks if I'll cruise over to look at it with him.

The place that has it is a nondescript, ratty-looking warehouse, kind of off the beaten path.

Until we get inside...

It a Ferrari / Lamborghini parts dismantler's warehouse. And the owner was cool as hell - we wound up staying for a couple hours, touring the warehouse, and talking cars.

And, of course, me without a good camera - But I shot these to share with you guys.

Engines and heads - One of several racks... floor to ceiling!

Testarossa engine.

Stacks and stacks - Look how rare some of these are!

Calipers - over 20 shelves this size. Some that make my Brembos look tiny!

Ten shelves of Brembo rotors.

Rare shells and panels - See the Dino?

One of several racks of wheels.

That's a Countach chassis. GORGEOUS.

Very cool place! A true restorers paradise. Some very interesting stuff there. That pink/red shell was a 1964-5 330 GT 2+2, the double headlight version. That white squarish one wwith the quad exhaust got me thinking. Perhaps a 400i (automatic transmissioned Ferrari sedan), plusquite a few 308s and mondials. Great find!

I think it's time to shut down NICO.

This thread will never be topped, so any further existence is meaningless.

I would be rubbing my schiong on everything in that garage.

You get to do/see the coolest stuff, lol.

I was just conversing with my roommate where to find a Columbo V12 to rebuild. You found it! You just love making my life easier, don't you?

What was even cooler was listening to all the stories from the owner...

All of his advertising is word-of-mouth. Think about it - You don't hit up ebay for a replacement fender for your 456GT!

Side note - A LOT of the wrecks were badly burned, and he said most of the wrecks they get have sustained MAJOR damage.

I'd be interested to see how insurance companies treat an exotic (as opposed to a more pedestrian vehicle) when it comes to total losses and compensation...

Depends on the insurance company. Where I work - we'll give you the full value of the car or the market value - whichever is higher.

Understandable. I doubt many people total their Ferrari going fifteen miles an hour through the retirement neighborhood.
