And a brief description in which places you in the NRRBA: I've had this motor forever- like maybe 3 years? Originally It was supposed to go in a s13 or s15 chassis, but I couldn't find one nice enough. I found an old school Z and decided it was worth putting the work into it all to have a badass car...

The head is off the block and its all sitting at a friends house...

And a brief description in which places you in the NRRBA: Blew the KA to the ends of the earth, actually shot a rod through the side of the block (damage pic later). Found an RB25DET nearly complete with an RB20 Trans for 800 bucks, bought it,

took the head off, found the valves were toasted, bought another head for 300
Need a Series 1 wiring harness, found on ebay another 300
ARP head studs, 75
Water pump pulley was missing so I rawbrokeraged that for 50, basically I am trying to get the RB running and in the car for WAY less than 4k, so far I am well on my way to doing that cause I have barely over 1200 into the swap right now.

Ill post up pictures later

Expected date of first start... before 2010?

Gary Rude
RB25DET
S14
Purchased: 8/30/07
Running: 1/5/08
Blown up on dyno getting too greedy on timing: 10/20/08
Running again: 4/7/09
Timing jumps and bends valve: 4/8/09

Details: Got it running, drove daily getting bugs worked out with steet tune (wideband, afc, profec-b) for 9 months. Got on the dyno, made 306 hp on stock turbo-took 4 runs. 5th run, while trying to get 310 on stock turbo with timing, cracked ring lands on #6 piston. Installed wiseco pistons and cometic head gasket and got it running, but it was making some not so nice noises. Came back the next day, checked timing, started it up again, and timing jumped while running=bent valves. So as the motor now sits it has built bottom end (wiseco/eagle), balanced and polished crank, arp headstuds, greddy (knockoff) manifold polished (so noone can tell its not really a greddy), and no head. Sucks to finally hear it run only to have it all taken away within the day and have to tear it down again-but the engine IS in the car and thats progress. The valves are on their way from california, so next week will be round 3, or 4, im not even sure anymore!

I never really posted but...

Name: Alex
Motor: RB20DET
Chassis: S13 Piggy Hatch
Purchased: 3/29ish/09
Running: 5/? something/09
Broken: 6/8/09

Ive got about 1200 miles and its been up and down. My maxima fans broke this past weekend so I spend $175 at jegs and got some killer 13in fans. 2600-2700cfm!

Then my positive battery cable came loose, screwed up my 1 month old boost gauge, my alternator and maybe my ecu or something. $200 later I have a new quest alternator.

And I was going to buy nistune this weekend too. CRAP.
88 300zx turbo- the new daily. Pretty comfy, decently quick. FMIC,MBC, 3in exhaust. Moar very soon.

90 240sx hatch- coil'd, diff'd kae gocart. VQ+t? KADE+t? Swapped soon...

Well today I have joined the NRRBA... After chasing a problem of running rich and missing she no longer wants to start. Probably just the civic battery calling it quits. HOPEFULLY! But who knows maybe the rods all fell out. Oh well. Anyhow for whatever reason ... i'm proud. =)

Name: S. Dumas
Motor: RB20DET (Silvertop)
Chassis: 1978 S30 (280Z)
Date: January 2009
(Mexicali, Baja California MEXICO)

I bought the engine from a Friend who was economically impaired at the moment. He sold the RB to me for 100 USD for many reasons and mainly because its only a head and block...no transmission, starter, alternator, injectors, wiring or the intake manifold/plenum. And the block needs oversize pistons (0.020"), the first owner put the turbos from a 26 and did not upgrade the fuel system so the mixture went so lean that 4 pistons have melted crowns, wich scored the cylinder walls. I hope to build it this year, this is getting really expensive for me as im doing a nuts and bolts restoration of the Shell.

Looks like this at this moment:

Already polished some aluminum parts and zinc plated others.
