I was just wondering what the difference between the 240sx and the silvia were besides the fact that the silvia is right hand drive.
thanks

Brakes, diff, motor/trans, different bumper supports, and like breadbox said, different dealer options.

really the only thing thats similar is the chassis its made from.. Thats if your talking s13. The s14 however are pretty much identical except for the engine and a few body parts.

The difference is We got screwed in the U.S. market and Japan kept all the goodies for themselves.

Instead of all these engine swaps and heavey mods on our 240's, we should import Silvia's and convert them to LHD.

No, I'd rather motor swap than convert the orientation of the steering column to the other side and all necessary in doing that.

Were the hatches exclusively 180sx's with Sr20's? And Coupes were Silvias with SR20's and maybe a few early ones had CA's?

In Euro they were 200sx's and rocked 1.8's (CA).

Then Type X were just later year S13's ending in 99 i think.

Type X was 97-98 180sx... All of the relevant info has been posted.. Now people just posting false info. As OTW already stated, search has all of the answers.

You would think there would be a comprehensive thread already covering all these small nuances but Here we are.

So Adrian is saying I have 180sx parts on my usdm coupe cuz Sil fronts have integrated sidemarkers.

Still, the JDM ons are nicer looking and shorter front to back uses the same bulb but have different socket shapes. the JDM have bulbs at a sharper angle than the USDM sidmarkers. so hard wiring is pretty much required.

the 180sx before type-x came with the CA18 (hence the name 180sx). then when they released later versions of the 180sx they came with SR20's.

and yes, earlier silvias did come with CA18's. then in the SR20's were put in, in the mid 1990's

something about the gas door and missing a piece of the frame rail. i think they're also missing crash bars in the door, but i'm not entirely sure on that. in the end, why does it matter? trying to replicate one to a t? more work than it's really worth.

More false info... 94-96 had SR20s as well, and were NOT Type-X... Guys, this info is all over NICO. Try your search button instead of just stating random nonsense you've heard along the way.

let me correct it then. when the 180sx first came out they had CA18's and in the 90's they put SR20's in them.

So here's a question: does putting Silvia badges on a usdm s14 w/ an sr make you a ricer?

Personally I like debadged cars, but just curious what you guys think. I think it's kind of like putting Honda badges on an Acura. Gay.

Don't know about ricer, but it's up there in the same category of putting a Cobra emblem on your Mustang GT ... dumb. :tisk:

i dont see a problem with that.

what i have a problem with is seeing silvia badges on a s13 hatch.

WOW!! I didn't expect so many replies, I searched it and asked my father who's a lifelong mechanic and what I said is what he told me, To answer some questions, yes I would like to replicate the s14 model if possible, from my understanding all I need to do is change the whole front clip(minus the frame but all of the body work on the outside), please correct me if I'm wrong, also I'd like to put an sr20 or rb20 in it, not sure which yet, any opinions appreciated.
