the other day i started smelling fuel through my vents. i checked around for leaks and decided to make sure all my clamps were tightened. i had to take my strut bar off for one clamp and sure enough here was my surprise!

the bloody piece of s*** grooved into my fuel line fuel was slowly bubbling out.

here's the bar where it was contacting the line

moral of the story.. don't buy a $20 strut bar. i wouldn't have but i got this one for free.

The ebay front bars are notorious for rubbing the fuel lines and causing leaks. Lucky you caught it in time.

Real strut bar FTW. Besides, I remember somewhere on here someone said that the front strut bar on our cars doesn't give near the gains as the rear does. No real reason to have them.

Can we sticky/FAQ this so people don't even bother asking? eBay STBs are like STDs, you don't want them even if their free.

Seriously though, a front STB only really increases understeer, in a car already prone to it. Front STBs are really for looks. The fender braces SPL offer do much more to stiffen the front end effectively.

So true. Milo raved about them in his chassis stiffening 101 thread.

For the record.
There is NO difference between a TT or NA front strut bars.
s*** designs, manufactured crappy companies with no R&D and quality control yield results like this.

What do you expect from a POS that you bought on eBay from a seller based in the PRC?

Wouldn't just taking it off, using a hammer, bending it a little fix the issue :gotme or maybe just putting some rubber or foam where it contacts the fuel line? or routing the fuel line elsewhere? Dozens of fixes but just NOT worth it. Best one would be that you should already know to stay away from ebay automotive. Or, just take chances and risk killing yourself in a burning z of fire to complete Charles Darwin's philosophy.

Now let this thread die, damn it!

Thou shall not doubt the Bernie! If Bernie says it, you can bet dollars to donuts that he's right. In my 10 years of Z ownership, I've never seen or heard of him being wrong.

Make it a towel rack, personal defense weapon, or a crappy pull up bar, but do not use it on your car. It is garbage, I speak from experience.

That would be an awesome idea for a garage! Strut bar towel rack :naughty:

When I build my dream garage, I'll have those everywhere. Maybe a mini collapsible version for toilet paper too. Thanks for the idea! :dblthumb:
