Anyone have any insight or feedback on Tein Coilver Kit? I purchased the BC Racing kit approx. yr half ago and have nothing but issues. Looking into the Tein kit, so would like some feedback?

Thanks Ahead

Since install i had a rattle in the back struts. I have taken them back off, i have re-did pre-load, and made sure all were tight. In the front, for the past 8 months i have had a load "clunk" when turning the wheel. I took it to the shop that does most of the work and he said the actual spring was to loose. The spring would turn, get to a certain point catch and pop back. I was under the impretion the spring should move freely. He took both front struts off and re-did the whole process. Yet, there is still the rattling in the rear and the "clunking" in the front. :wtf2:

Thanks Ahead

How loud isthe rattle in the rear? Try tightening the 2 bolts on top (by the dampening adjuster) that holds the strut to the car. And then check the spring bucket to see if the spring is wobbling.
And as for the front, I guess you can loosen the spring then tighten them back up to where there is no more twisting movement within the spring

The front come compressed to a certain preset. Called pre-loaded. You should not mess with this. As far as I can tell, the spring should NOT be free to spin.

Bori,

Tein is well known for quality and is more expensive. Try to sell your BC's on Nico, I'm sure someone will pick them up off you.

I know that Phenom was looking for my BC's when I was thinking about trading in my coupe.

And my coupe makes noises all the time. All kinds of creaks and springy sounds... There's some thumping in the steering wheel I want to get checked out, but mostly I think it's just the way that coilovers sound.

I had the same rattling it kinda sounds like popcorn being popped.the rattling in the rear is because of the spring isn't seated correctly. make sure you use the rubber stoppers that came with the stock springs, they fit underneath the spring and prevent it from rattling around.

Wow, sorry for the late response guys im deployed so cant get on as often. Here it goes:

johnnir3volution:
The rattle in the rear occurs everytime I hit small bumps on the road. A rattle loud enough to irritate me, I re-tightened the 2 botls which hold the struts to the car. I re-ckhecked the entire back end multiple times, always looking into something new. Im very picky with my car, any little noise i need look into.

Alphapig:
Rgr, that is what I understood. My front strut spins, i contacted BC and they said make sure the pre-load was done correctly. My mechanic looked into it over and over and still cant figure it out. He even took both struts off and looked into them off. I think imma sell mine and go ahead and buy Teins, i was originally wanting them anyeays just shot the gun when BC was the first to come out with any. He says it looks straight so i just put up with it. The struts work fine, he even did a test on a lift to see if any struts were bad, all was GTG. Thanks for the input.

IBcoupe:
I never had thumping on my steering wheel. The steering wheel for me is actually pretty smooth. Imma go ahead and talk with "illdraweyouapic" (wow!) about selling them to him since he is the first to ask me. If not then ill hit up phenom. Thanks

Oilsink:
Yea bro, i looked into the rubber stopper as well. I checked it all, I even tightend the bolt under the spring that connects to the arm that holds the actual spring. Your right though, it sound like popcorn lol.

illdraweyouapic:
Yea bro im down on selling them, they in good condition besides the issue i posted here i been deployed ALOT so the car has sat in the air on four jacks. I bought the struts and didnt install till 7 months after due to being in iraq. So they have approx. 8k on them. All of which is back and forth to work, since i mainly use my bike. Let me know......imma need the guys input as to price. My email is [email protected]

No worries; no rush. The thumping I get is when I'm turning the wheel to one extreme or the other. I get a creaking, too, that coincides with the thumping (or vice versa). I think it's just the springs doing what springs do after being installed for more than half a year, but I don't know for sure. That's what I'm planning to get checked out at some point.

Yea bro, get that looked into. I understand that with mods you will get some noises here and there. Its just good to at have good SA on what it is and if it can be fixed, or will it cause serious wear and tear on the car. Let me know what comes from it.

Thanks

make sure your strut and tower bolts are tightened i had a nasty creak on my ebiach like to month after i installed them and its because the spring its self settles and allows some give in the whole assemble

If the problem is still persistent with BC's, it is the shocks itself making the noise. It was a known cause for the g37 BC racing shocks.

Tein all the way.

What was the problem, Loop, with the G37 shock? Is it a sign of imminent failure, or just one of those things a BC shock does?

I hear creaking when my music is very low / off but not loud enough to where there's a cause for alarm.

Poorly designed/engineered & lack of R&D.

Check out the G37 BC Racing issue thread: (http://myg37.com/forums/brakes-and-susp ... -here.html) Possibly you can find your solution or future updates.
