Exactly and your phone is going to give you more accurate nav too. Or you could spend $150 for the best Garmin has to offer. The weight savings of avoiding the 'tech' package has to be worth a tenth in the 1/4 mile and about a 1 mpg on the freeway too.

This is why my G35 was a Journey!

THAT part I'm not a fan of. Frippery IMO.

Car looks a lot bigger in person than it does in the pics, and it's a damn sexy ride. The little details on all of the new Mazdas are WAY impressive.

The Driver Info Screen, when you get in the car with the key, says "Zoom zoom." :)

The Sorento came with the smartphone integration even with the factory radio, but it didn't have the touch screen and all of the phone controls with the standard model. Yeah, I got some on a little of the pretty and shiny stuff

But at least it has heated seats too!

I was surprised by how roomy they were when I drove one a couple of years ago. I was not very impressed by the cargo space with the rear seats up though. It wouldn't have been a deal breaker, but it was another reason that kept me away from them for a daily driver personally.

I do sorta regret not going and looking at the 1st gen MS3 I found when I was looking for myself last though. It was right in my price range, but I avoided it because of the manual trans and not enough cargo space for our needs at the time.

Every Mazda i've been in has impressed me. Even the Mazda 5 was really nice and had a lot of neat little details to it.

That story made me smile, I like to read those 'surprise' stories. :P

I had the lucky opportunity to drive one and also autocross a new-at-the-time 2011 model. I didn't like the increased size and height ( I felt like I was autocrossing a minivan) since the last generation (I looove the looks of the first gen) but the boost delivery is great...and no noticeable torque steer either. It's a great daily driver! Enjoy! :dblthumb:

Yea, Mazda has the FWD power application figured out. No tq steer and smooth power delivery.

I wish the Sentra didn't suck.... ;(

THIS car has torque steer out the wazoo... But it's also 263hp and 280 ft-lbs of torque. :)

14-flat in the 1/4 at 100mph ain't bad, and it's going to be real practical for the stuff Bex uses it for.

Now, I just have to carve out some time for us to take a road trip! :)

14 flat is very quick! Thats about what I got in Phoenix DA from my G35 I know a few of you made it into the 13.6's with better air. At 14 flat you can beat the pre Coyote motor V8 Mustangs LOL

Yep.

There's one that belongs to a Nissan tech here in town running 13.6 all night with bolt-ons and a set of sticky front tires.

14 in the 1320 = wicked fun car on a daily driver level. I don't think the Dart is anywhere close to 14 flat. Course I'm down 100 ft lbs of torque, maybe more...

If it weren't Kates car I'd have my boost controller installed with some Alky injection!

We looked at the Speed3, but Mazda wasn't going to give us nearly as much in trade for the Caravan. Dodge gave us 3k more...hard to say no to 3k.

When are we going to see some more pics!?

This was why we didn't buy Mazda. They wouldn't give us anywhere near enough for our trade and also, I didn't like the fact that you HAVE to buy the package with the sunroof and ect on the CX-5 to even get the backup camera.

Kates must have list of options insured we purchased the "baller" version regardless of make/model. I just couldn't get over the low-ball trade-in offer.

Bex - nice ride! I've liked the MS3s since they came out.

Greg - excellent job on the surprise.

On most vehicles we would've had to get the baller version too. That's why we came down to the RAV4 and the Sorento at the end. I almost left Kia just because the backup camera and bluetooth is standard on all models of the RAV4, but they made it worth our while to stay in the end.

But seriously though, that's awesome. Smooth as hell, G man.

Also, how did this thread bring so many NICO OG's out of the woodwork? I'm assuming Bex bragged on Facebook. ;)

I don't know why I'm strangely attracted to the look of this Mazda. I usually think they're the special kid in the family that no one talks about. But the white on black is attractive. ( does it help that those are my two favorite colors? maybe)
Also Congrats.

The 3 will get her first bath today so I'll have some pics up later. I filled her up for the first time last night. I got 401 miles out of the first tank. That's an average of just under 31 mpg. That's pretty damn solid in a car with boost on tap, IMO. :yesnod

I really love the fact that it'll outrun the Genesis 2.0T, the FRS, the BRZ, the GTI, the new Miata, the Focus ST, and a bunch of other supposedly "fast" cars... for less money.

M/T had the 3 at a tenth quicker, C&D had it at a tenth slower. #s on both cars are all over the place (but in the 14.0 to 14.3 range).

Just found out that the Cobb Accessport offers up a 33% hp and 40% tq increase... for under $600. OMG.

Cobb is the SHTUFF. I WISH they had it for my MSP. I've seriously considered re-wiring the FSDE to run on the MS3 ecu so I can use it. DOOEETT!!!
