So I drove my car home for lunch at work and when I was heading back to work I started the car and the car started up fine, however once the car cranked over I noticed that the radio and gauges flinked off for about 5 seconds then came back on and everything was normal again.

Now when I try to start the car nothing happens. It does not crank at all. There is no power to the car, the radio and gauges do not work.
The only thing getting power are the taillights and headlights.

I have attempted to jump start the car, and push start the car. I checked the fuses and everything seems fine.

Any input?
I'm currently sitting in the parking lot at work :(

If it matters its a S13 SR20.

Thank you!

Is it a manual or auto?
If manual have you tried push starting it?
Have you tried jumping it? Even though your lights are on it could be low voltage, or maybe a bad battery connection?
Perhaps your ground wire is loose?

Come on man :poke:

I got it started, not 100% sure what happened. I'll have to dig deeper into it this evening when it cools down.

Thank you though sir!

Could a loose ground on the alternator cause that?

Check under your front drivers wheel well. There is a thick wiring harness that runs there and if your car is low, the wheel could have rubbed the wires and broke them. Check all the wires you can see

This exact same thing happened to me. Ended up the wheel rubbed through the thick yellow wire that went to the ignition and gave power to the car.

Damn missed that part of the original post. Could be the key ignition actually.
When you turn your headlight on does you dash light up then?

I dont remember if they turned on or not. I know I tried and I dont think they did, but I just dont recall exactly. I do remember no radio and no other power besides indoor light. I dont even think the power windows worked. Yes could also be a bad ignition too but I would check the wires harness first especially if you missing the splash guards. Itll be easy to spot.

it kind of sounds like it was that big 75a fuse. cause when mine popped, nothing but the headlights and tail lights worked. but he said he got it to start, so im pretty sure that rules that out.

Starter solenoid and relays okay?

To check that, you could jump the starter directly next time it happens, and see if it turns over. Just don't forget it in gear, you'll run yourself over.

He said he checked the fuses. But, check the big ones and anything related for power with a test light, not just visually. Theres a small chance a wire could have fallen out of the bottom of the fuse box
