Is there any way to add a module or update the Bose radio system on a 2012 Rogue so it can stream audio from my iPhone?

My best guess is no. Nissan and Bose are very proprietary in their technology which makes it very difficult to add any modifications. Even if Nissan or Bose did have an update to allow mp3 streaming, they wouldn't release it to the public.
If you really wanted mp3 streaming then you could always call another number that is playing your desired mp3s through it's microphone to have music play through your system. Better hope you have a lot of minutes on your cell phone plan  .
IMO bluetooth sucks. You get much better audio quality over the usb and you also charge it at the same time.
Do you want to stream internet radio(Pandora) or just eliminate wires?

yes, two ways.

1. get a module that will plug into your iphone headphone jack, and tune your radio to the appropriate radio station that the module works with.

2. install a module that plugs into your AUX port, and then access the app that the module comes with, and it will stream via bluetooth from your phone, to your module thats plugged into the AUX port.

Why not just get a usb drive that runs off of a FAT 32 interface? If youre music isnt all Icrap DRM protected then you can easily put all your music on a flash drive. No wires and no mess and you dont have to reconnect it every time you get in the car. Very cheap also.

This A2DP bluetooth adapter works with any bluetooth phone. Right now I'm using it with my squeezebox boom but it works without any problems with any AUX port. It runs on the battery so you have to charge it once in a while or keep it in usb charging port. For $30 I don't think you'll find a better solution.

Excellent find. This will probably be a godsend for a number of members. :dblthumb:

Not from Nissan or the OEM for the factory system but Grom supposedly has a "bluetooth upgradable" interface for the Rogue.

The other usual aftermarket interface for factory stereo companies may have solutions as well.

There are also countless bluetooth devices like the one mentioned above that can connect to your aux input.

I was curious as to whether or not anyone else had experienced this phenomenon. I have a 2013 Rogue with the navigation system, etc. Last week, I had my phone connected via the USB input in the console and was playing some music. I turned the audio off via the head unit, unplugged my phone and then turned the audio back on. WITH MY iPHONE STILL UNPLUGGED, the radio began playing the song that I had been playing when my phone was previously connected. Does the system have some sort of memory? I can't understand how it could have been playing music through the AUX input when nothing was connected to it.

It wasn't. It was playing via bluetooth.

I was quite sure that it doesn't have that technology, right?
