I've been here for almost a year, and I've yet to start a build thread. So...

...this is my endless budget build. Her name... Connie, my 240.

At first I wanted another SW21. But a friend of mine told me about this 240sx sitting in the back lot of his work. I decided to check it out and look it over. Spoke with my friend's buddy and I acquired it for 650. It needed work big time. It had no engine and the interior needs some TLC.
This is how she looked in the beginning.

I got the 240 back in September of '07. I saved up $1,700 + income tax return, and decided to get an SR20 motor set.

transmission came in great shape.
Image

Cleaned up the SR20 and got a few needed items for it.

New oem water pump + Nismo Thermostat

Resurfaced flywheel + Gripforce clutch set, t/o bearing

Nismo motor mounts, Nismo transmission mount

New water temp sensor

Redid the lower harness (neatly done)

CXRacing intercooler + HKS BOV

HKS actuator

Westco battery

Auto Meter temp sensor and gauge, and Derale thermostat fan controller.

I regret not taking pics the day when my brother, a friend and I swapped the SR into the engine bay. Wish I did, but i was so anxious to get the SR in and running.

New steering rack, tie rods, bushings, front lower control arms and toe arms.

I went with the Silvia front end. It took time to acquire the parts, piece by piece.

Interior pics. Not much... very ugly, but gonna get it nice looking. Someday, of course. Old dash / new dash. Got the new (used) one for $55.00

A lucky find, especially here in the southwest.

Silvia DCC unit. Shiny dash-look (Thanks to Broadfield). His s13 is inspiration. New front door speakers.

Isis Pulley set. Need to get the alt pulley on. Just been lazy lately.

Current engine bay pics / exterior. This is pretty much how she looks like, inside out.

My to do list: rear suspension work, paint & interior work.

Stay tuned. More to come in the near future.

Update:I finally got around to installing a Z32 n/a diff I acquired a couple of months ago; including a set of CS subframe collar bushings and Energy Suspension (black) subframe inserts.

My stock open diff decided to take a crap. The installation of the inserts, collar bushings and diff was a breeze. Thanks to a friend, I had the right tools for the job.

Crusty V ^

need new end-link bushings

!992 J30 axles

I used 2 long bolts, M12 X 1.25 thread/pitch 90mm long, 2 large washers, 2 medium size washers, 2 small washers and Z32 Polyurethane bushings + spacers x2. The diff feels solid with no movement.

Next month, I'm getting my coilovers.

Nice build, diggin' the clean dash I just got a J30 vlsd and was wondering what you thought about it in terms of DD comfort and how it locks up.

Thank you!

I have a Z32 diff w/ J30 axles, not a J30. As far as the J30, it has a 3.916 ratio, which is 4% taller than the stock open differential. The Z32 has the same ratio as a stock 240 open diff. And there is a differencebetween the Z32 diff and open diff. As a DD it handles well. It handles even better on a track.

if you go with those wheels you will need 5 lug. Plus when you go 5 lug I think you need the coilvers for the different knuckles.

Thank you so much. Yes, I'm going w/ the 5 lug swap. I have the Z32 rear brakes plus e-brake assemblies and front driver-side 30mm iron caliper. I'll post up everything as soon as I get those wheels mentioned, or another set.

The only thing I need is the front passenger-side 30mm caliper. I scored bigwith the Z32 brakes, but the passenger-side caliper was missing, lol. As far as the knuckles, I don't think Stance makes an upright sleeve. Unless someone knows of any that will fit the s13 Stance coilover w/ the rightthread pitch, then I'll mos def go with the Z32 uprights.

I'll eventually upgrade my rucas, etc.

Wow!

At first I was worried, $650 was pretty steep imo, but you've made a TON of progress! Great work man! Can't wait to see more
