Hi guys! I'm having a bit of trouble starting my car in the mornings or after a couple of hours of letting it sit. it take a couple of seconds of cranking before it starts (if i press down on the gas peddle to help it). sometimes, if i do NOT press on the gas peddle to help it start, I get a bit a gurgling noise before it shuts off.

I have absolutely no problems starting the car within 30 mins of recently driving it...like lets say a quick stop at the gas station.

The car cranks properly, so I think i ruled out the battery. Also, I live in the Caribbean so it's never less than 70 F.

I've seen this issue on other Nissans when the Fuel Pressure Regulator begins to fail.

Thanks OwnerCS! fuel pressure regulator? isn't that $$$$$$$$$$$?

Any idea if we have a special fuel de-flood procedure for our cars? thought i'd probably should try that before looking at repairs that will cost somewhere in the upper hundreds.

A Standard Motor Products (SMP) FPR is $86.00 at RockAuto.com. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to check your fuel pressure to rule out a low fuel pressure issue?

OwnerCS, thanks for the help man, really! Problem i have shopping for parts is that they never have Nissan Cimas listed to ensure I'm getting the right parts. I have a 1996 nissan cima (right hand side drive, japanese). Do i enter 1997 infiniti Q45 to get parts for my car?

Which model cima is it? Y32 or Y33. They produced both in 96. Also which engine does it have. The VH41DE or the VQ30DET.

BCC93QT, thanks for the reply! it's a Y33 (FHY33) and VQ30T to answer the second question.

completely forgot there were two in 1996.

I do not think the VH41DE shares the same regulator as the VQ30DET. These sites may help you some in finding parts for your JDM cima. IF It is your fuel pressure regulator your part number is located below

Looks around 100 bucks for you

The russian version below has pictures so it is more useful. They still carry stock of nissan products discontinued here in the US

Hi guys! thanks for the replies! it turns out that my flooring the gas peddle while starting the car was what caused the issue. Doing that temporarily cut off the fuel to the engine, but would eventually cut back on if i cranked it long enough. gurgling sound would happen when I pressed on the gas a third of a way down. I was pressing on the gas in an attempt to decrease the start time on the car (less cranks).

So, my cars starts every time now with my just holding the key in the start position till the engine starts (5-6 cranks- not sure if i'm using the proper term). I'd let to bring it down to 3 cranks on morning starts and 2 cranks on recently used starts. I'll be changing the spark plugs and air filter soon and doing a direct air pressured fuel injector cleaning done to see what that gets me. i've already changed the fuel filter, oil filter and oil.

If the air filter and spark plugs and air pressured fuel injector doesn't get me the fast start up that I'm looking for, i'll look to getting a battery with higher cranking power.

is there anything else I should try?
